Dear Hart Families,

It was so fantastic to see so many of our Hart families for Thanksgiving lunch. It was great to see the fellowship over a delicious meal! I am so thankful for each and everyone of you.

I would like to update everyone on our Thankful card sales. As of today, November 14, we have collected $678.00! I would like to challenge our students and set a goal of $1000.00. We would be able to adopt 10 children!  Thank you everyone for your participation.

With a Full HeART,

Project Thankful Cards are still available!!!

Project Thankful is an opportunity for Hart students, families, and staff members to send a card to tell someone that they are thankful for him or her. We asked the students to design cards using the theme "Thankful". 5 winning designs were made into cards and are being sold in the cafeteria during lunch from November 11- November 22. The cost of the card is $1.00 per card.  All the money collected will be used to adopt children through the Allen Community Outreach (ACO) Holiday Adoption Program, www.acocares.org .  Last year we raised $921.00 and adopted 9 children!!!! This is an event that all staff and students really enjoy and look forward to.

Thank you,
Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Scoville

I am so excited to begin the next lesson in guidance! For the next 5 weeks we will be exploring emotions and personalities from the Inside Out. I will be showing bits of the movie throughout the weeks. We will focus on each emotion and the characters named Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust. We will follow the main character, Riley, as she experiences some strong emotions during  major changes in her life. I will have the students reflect on a journey in their life in which the have dealt with each of the emotions.  There will be several activities such as creating our own personality islands. We will also be exploring parts of the brain and how our emotions impact our moods, decisions, and behaviors. If you have not had a chance to watch this movie, I highly recommend it.

As always, please feel free to contact me at chelsea_scoville@lovejoyisd.net.

Message from Nurse Alli

Just a gentle reminder that strep/flu/cold season is upon us. We have had a couple confirmed cases of Flu B. We have also seen a flu type virus (that is not flu), a stomach virus causing mostly headache, stomach ache, and vomiting (lasting about 24-48 hours), and also a rise in strep throat. If I send your child home with a fever (or vomiting) or if your child is running fever at home, they MAY NOT return to school until they have been fever and vomiting free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of Advil, Tylenol or Multi-symptom cold relief medication. This is not only to protect all of their classmates, but also to protect your child whose immune system is already working hard.

On another note, I am having many children bring medication to school with them and then the child is bringing the medication to me: ALL medications MUST be brought to the clinic by an adult. A medication permission form must be filled out for every child and every medication; this includes cough drops and throat lozenges.

If your child is absent from school, written documentation is needed. Please email
Alis_Brantl@lovejoyisd.net and  Heather_Bouska@lovejoyisd.net with the date and reason for the absence. You can also use the School Dismissal App to report an illnesses. Thanks for all you do at home to keep your children healthy and in school.

If your child has physical restrictions from activity, please email Coach Eric Hill, eric_hill@lovejoyisd.net and Nurse Alli, allison_wright@lovejoyisd.net. Contacting Coach and Nurse Alli directly will ensure the limitation is noted and alternate plans can be made.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 469-742-8156 or email me at  allison_wright@lovejoyisd.net.

Thank you so much for helping to keep everyone healthy this season!

Nurse Alli

Dear Lovejoy Community,

We are officially kicking off the 6th annual Lovejoy Letter Campaign for teachers and staff members. Our goal is to have our community write appreciation letters for each teacher and staff member in Lovejoy ISD before the Thanksgiving
break.

The letters do not need to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of gratitude for supporting our students. We do not want to add heavy burdens to our community, but we do want to share how much we appreciate our teachers and staff! Keep it #shortandsweet and #showappreciation!

We would be grateful if you would write letters to any teacher or staff member who has been valuable to your child's educational experience. It can be from this current year, or someone who has made an impact in the past. Please label the envelope with "LLC" and the staff or teacher's name, then drop off the letter to the front office of your school by Friday, November 15th.

The letter campaign has become such a meaningful tradition in our community. We appreciate the time and effort your contributions will make again to this year's letter campaign. Remember #shortandsweet and #showappreciation. Also, don't forget the kids! The teachers and staff love to hear from the students they are impacting.
