SUPP Provider Directory
Prevention First is excited to announce the addition of a new online SUPP Provider Directory! The SUPP provider Directory is an online searchable directory of SUPS and CSUPS grantees, where users can view grantees' locations and service areas and search grantees by region, grant type, and program types.

Conducting Alcohol Environmental Scans

Has the alcohol access changed due to COVID-19? Have grocery and convenience stores moved alcohol to a more prominent location within their store? Have they increased the number of aisles and displays containing alcohol? Conducting an Alcohol Environmental Scan can help answer those questions.

The goal of environmental scanning is to identify your community’s risk factors that can contribute to underage or excessive alcohol consumption. Conducting a scan allows you to observe and document the 4 P’s: Price, Product, Promotion, and Place. Documenting these observations and pairing that information with other assessment data, such as youth survey data, allows you to create a clear picture of alcohol in your community.  Share your youth survey data with store managers – many are not aware of use rates nor the potential risk for easy access.

The APRC has a free downloadable Environmental Scanning Fact Sheet and Infographic. A microlearning video on Environmental Scanning is also available.

Finally, if you would like Technical Assistance, the APRC is here for you. We can provide assistance on how to conduct an Alcohol Environmental Scan as well as how to package your data to share with retail merchants.
If you have any questions, please contact Kellie Henrichs or Jody Heavilin.
The PTTC Network has created a page of collected resources to assist prevention professionals in delivering services and programming in virtual settings. Resources provided include videos and recorded webinars on engaging participants online, leveraging telehealth technology, legal and ethical considerations, and remaining culturally responsive, among others.

Text “HELP” to 833234 to reach the IL Helpline

The Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances is proud to introduce TEXTING. Those in need of treatment and recovery services and their loved ones can now reach the IL Helpline by texting “HELP” to 833234.

Text messages to the IL Helpline will receive two automated responses while the texter is being connected with a Helpline Specialist. Those reaching out to the Helpline will receive the same trusted services through text message as they would through a phone call or online chat. Folks can text anything to 833234 and be connected to the services that they need.

Text message services are a critical strategy to expanding the availability of Helpline services, as many potential clients only use mobile phones or require a more discrete method of contacting the Helpline. We look forward to reaching more individuals in need of Helpline services through our text messaging platform.
