Mills Act Support
On September 3 the Town Council will vote on adopting the Mills Act in Los Gatos.

The Mills Act is a state e conomic incentive to foster the preservation of residential neighborhoods and the revitalization of downtown commercial districts. Enacted in 1972, the Mills Act legislation grants participating local governments (cities and counties) the authority to enter into contracts with owners of qualified historic properties who actively participate in the restoration and maintenance of their historic properties while receiving property tax relief.

In Los Gatos this would mean that pre-1941 qualifying residential and commercial properties could get tax relief in return for improving and maintaining their historic buildings. To voice your support for the adoption of the Mills Act, contact the Town Council or come to the September 3 meeting.
