TESTIMONIAL

I had searched the internet and found a company that had no idea what I needed and they sent me a list of places in my area that in no way met our needs.  So I did more research on my own. Luckily for us we found Trusted Senior Placement.  They totally listened to our needs and referred us to a place that was perfect for us.  Not to mention the care and understanding that we needed at this critical time in our life.  The other company treated us like a "number" as if we did not have the funds.  They offered no alternatives and left us feeling hopeless.  That was not case with Teresa, she's a real gem.

Happy Easter month! March is also when we celebrate St. Patrick's Day and the start of Spring!  This month we are reminded of new beginnings and new hope! Creation itself is a reminder of new life in every flower that blooms, in trees turning green  and the twittering in new nests. Easter reminds us of new life through faith, with iconic images surrounding us, such as chicks popping out of their shells and new baby rabbits (called kits by the way).  This year we also look forward to new changes in an election year.  Here are a few articles to ponder , looking ahead at the issues we face as a nation.

Happy Easter, Happy St. Patrick's Day, and Happy Spring!

Warm Regards,

The Invisible Poor Seniors

1 in 5 older adults have incomes above the federal poverty level, but still struggle to pay their expenses Nearly 1 in 5 adults over 65 in California - more than three-quarters of a million people - live in an economic no-man's land, unable to afford basic needs but often ineligible for government assistance, according to a new study by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.

The History of Easter

Easter, which celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, is Christianity's most important holiday. It has been called a moveable feast because it doesn't fall on a set date every year, as most holidays do. Instead, Christian churches in the West celebrate Easter on the first Sunday following the full moon after the vernal equinox on March 21. Therefore, Easter is observed anywhere between March 22 and April 25 every year. Orthodox Christians use the Julian calendar to calculate when Easter will occur and typically celebrate the holiday a week or two after the Western churches, which follow the Gregorian calendar. The exact origins of this religious feast day's name are unknown. . .
Medicaid vs. Inheritance
Benefit or Burden?

Aunt Mildred just passed away and left your Uncle Bob $50,000 in her will. This would normally be a wonderful gift, but Bob is in a nursing home where his bill is paid by Medicaid. So what happens now? First of all, we are talking about a "bequest" (i.e., gift under a will). "Inheritance" technically refers to the money or other asset(s) a beneficiary receives when a person dies without a will. So when the will is probated and the bequest is found in the will, it means nothing to Uncle Bob until he actually gets a check from the estate. After all, Aunt Mildred may have died with a lot of outstanding debt, and by the time the estate is settled, Bob's bequest may have to be reduced or even eliminated. So for Medicaid purposes, it doesn't count until he actually has access to the money, i.e., the cash in hand. But let us assume that a year later the check comes in. Now what?
