THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, September 6 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

On this Labor Day Sunday, let’s take a moment to celebrate the people of the US Postal Service, unsung heroes of our civil society. Most of us take our daily mail for granted. In this service we will explore the history and contributions of this deeply American – and possibly imperiled – institution. There will be a special interview with Tamara Dicey, UUCUC member and former postal worker in the Urbana Post Office. This is the first service since March that will be live-streamed from our UUCUC Sanctuary. The photo above was taken at a recent rally in support of the USPS, organized by the American Postal Workers Union. Rev. Caplow took the photo and several members of UUCUC are in the photo, if you can recognize them with masks on.

You can watch on our live-stream page or on our Youtube Channel where you can engage via chat with others viewing the service. We will open the chat 3 minutes before the service starts.

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, September 13 at 10:15 a.m. via Live-stream

Join us LIVE online for our annual water celebration and ingathering, as we celebrate the arrival of a new minister for UUCUC! Our new Associate Minister, Rev. Sally Fritsche, will join Rev Florence, and she will speak on the risks and rewards of moving beyond the surface-level in our communal and spiritual lives. You'll be invited to listen, reflect, and even roll up your sleeves and splash around. Together we will rededicate ourselves to deepening the care and covenant that holds our community together. The UUCUC Choir has prepared a beautiful virtual choir performance.

Stay tuned for more information about an after-service drive-by greeting of our ministers, and an opportunity to offer water to our communal bowl.

JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, August 30.

From Sandy and Jim Hannum: We welcome our newest grandson, Nicholas Wilde Hannum, born on this past Wednesday (August 26th). Nicholas, his mother (Melissa), and his father (our son, Jeff) are doing great. We had a “zero” birthday party for Nicholas in lieu of actually visiting him (covid restrictions) and baked and ate his birthday cake without even saving him a piece!

From Scott Rohde: Condolences for long-time friends from my earliest days here who lost their son to leukemia early last week.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service each Sunday. They will be read aloud..
