Introducing a New Holiday Event, Southern Sanctuaries

Southern Sanctuaries is a new event for Friday night, December 3rd, coordinated by The Greene County Partnership Tourism Task Force. During the Christmas in Downtown Holiday Celebration, churches located in downtown Greeneville will be open between the hours of 5:30 – 8:30pm for self-guided tours.

There is no better time to visit these lovely sanctuaries than at Christmas, to take in the reason for the season as you view and appreciate the beauty of these buildings some of which date back to the 1700’s.

Eight churches on the following streets are hosting:

North Main Street:
First Baptist Church
First Presbyterian Church with Christ Chapel
Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church

West Church Street:
St. James Episcopal Church

West Summer Street:
Central Christian Church

South Main Street:
Asbury United Methodist Church
Christ United Methodist Church
Reformation Lutheran Church
Downtown Greeneville
Christmas Celebration
On Friday, December 3rd, there will be a Christmas Celebration in Downtown Greeneville from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

There will be music and caroling beginning at 5:30 pm. The community Christmas tree lighting at the Greene County Courthouse will take place at 6:00 pm.

Holiday wagon rides will take place during the evening, and Santa will be at the community Christmas tree at 6:30 pm.

Shops and restaurants will be open for shopping and refreshments.

Greeneville Christmas Parade

“Christmas Through the Decades” themed parade starts at 2 pm on Sunday, December 5th. It will proceed from the Sandwich House on North Main Street to The Crescent School Building on West Main Street. Please be reminded not to park on Main Street for safety reasons.

Successful Shop Small Greene!
Saturday, November 27th marked this year's Shop Small Saturday and Shop Small Greene.

Thank you to over 30 small businesses and hundreds of shoppers that participated in Shop Small Greene!

The day was filled with the sounds of cash registers ringing and shoppers making their way through town to find the best deals and unique holiday gifts. Over 150 Shop Small Greene scavenger hunt forms were turned in at the end of the busy shopping day and several lucky shoppers won door prizes from their favorite shops.

Remember, when you Shop Small this holiday season you are helping your friends and neighbors thrive!

The Keep Greene Beautiful Board of Directors celebrated with a holiday lunch at the Greene County Partnership on Thursday, December 2nd. Everyone had a great time!
Trash Art Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of Keep Greene Beautiful's Trash Art Contest! Students were encouraged to develop creative ways in which to recycle something they would normally throw away. This held in conjunction with America Recycles Day.
Appreciation Breakfast

Keep Greene Beautiful honored Greeneville Public Works and Greene County Solid Waste with an appreciation breakfast for all their work in recycling, trash removal and event assistance. They help Greene County be a great place to live! Thank you to AMSEE and AmeriScrap (Greeneville Iron & Metal) for sponsoring the breakfast.

On Shop Small Saturday, November 27th, The Town of Greeneville, Vaughn & Melton Engineers, Summers-Taylor Construction, MainStreet: Greeneville, and the Greene County Partnership joined together to break ground at Main and Depot Streets.

The groundbreaking celebrates the revitalization efforts occurring on Greeneville downtown streets and reminds residents and visitors to continue shopping at businesses impacted by the construction.
