GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Monday, May 31, 2021) – Perry and Denise Martin's Mo Mosa, trained by Michael Maker tracked the front runners on the outside, made a four wide bid passed the quarter pole and drew clear in the stretch to win by three and a half lengths over favorite CZ Rocket. Silver Prospector was up for third with pacesetter Hunka Burning Love faded to fourth. Next was Sheriff Brown followed by Warrior's Charge, who was off slow spotting the field four lengths, and Harvey Wallbanger completed the order of finish.
Fractional times were 24.70, 47.83, 1:11.55 and 1:23.95 for a final of 1:37.15. Track was sloppy going.
With Ramon Vazquez up, Mo Mosa went off at odds of 23-1 which returned $48.60 for his backers.
A four-year-old son of Uncle Mo, out of the Eskendereya mare Roughing is now a graded stakes winner. The victory was his first graded stakes win and his fourth career win from 16 total starts. He has now bankrolled a total of $453,875.
Handle Records Set Today Despite Weather
Lone Star Park's All-Souces handle today was $6,944,947. It was the largest All-Sources handle in the track's 25 year history, excluding the 2004 Breeders' Cup.
Export handle on today' s Lone Star Park Million Day card was $5,494,681 besting the previous high of $4,523,685 bet on Million Day in 2001.
A total of $904,299 was wagered on-track today. Attendance was 5,851.
