From the Principal

Welcome to Fall!

Thankfully, today is college sweatshirt day, so we are all warm and toasty. As the weather changes, please remember that your children in carpool need to be ready to exit cars quickly so we can get them into school with ease. Also, please make sure your children’s outer wear are labeled with their names. At the end of each year, we have dozens of items we donate because they have no owner.

Last week, first grade celebrated Bat Week and enjoyed their time reading under desks with flashlights. We enjoyed seeing their happy smiles and fabulous costumes. It is nice to keep as many aspects of their lives as normal as possible in this crazy time.

Chickaletta, Rover, and Pepper are laying eggs now, and we are harvesting almost every day. We are glad the girls have gotten busy and are earning their keep. Seeing eggs in the roosting area is about the most exciting part of our day! The coop has been prepared for winter, so hopefully, they are snug and happy.

As COVID-19 lurks about, please know that we are following the CDC and Denton County Health Department protocols and continuing to disinfect all areas of the school. Our teachers work hard each day to keep classrooms safe and cheerful. The students have adjusted to the changes in their routines and are doing fine.

As we end this first nine weeks, we are grateful for having this time together, whether in person or virtual, and are excited about what is to come. We appreciate the support from our team at home rallying for us each day.

Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon
Knightly Choices Week
Knightly Choices Week is Trivium's version of Red Ribbon Week. We empower students to make choices that help them reach their goals! Our daily dress up days along with engaging lessons in Morning Meeting and Advisory class make it a favorite week each year. All grades K-10 are invited to participate in the dress up days including our remote learners.
Fall Scholastic Book Fair
Our bookcases have just arrived from Scholastic and there are some great books for all ages! Browse Trivium’s Book Fair here: https://trivium234.libib.com/

Books may be purchased Oct. 28th - Nov. 6th.

There are two options to purchase books:
  1. Fill out a Google form (the link for this will be live on Wednesday, October 28th, so look for it this week) identifying which books you would like to purchase and pay for them using Scholastic’s ewallet payment option. For students who are attending school in person, books will be delivered to your child’s classroom the next day. For students who are learning remotely we will have a pickup time for you to come by and pick up the books you ordered. Get a head start and sign up for Scholastic’s ewallet today at https://bit.ly/31zZbVm or by scanning the QR code below.
  2. Purchase books online through Scholastic's website paying with a credit card. Any books ordered this way will be shipped to your home in a couple of weeks. Shipping is free on book-only orders over $25.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Curriculum Corner
First grade students, at school and at home, participated in their annual Bat Day celebration after completing a unit learning all about bats. Students were encouraged to bring flash lights and blankets to create "caves" under their desks, while teachers transformed their classrooms into a habitat for bats. How cute are these little bats?!
