September Banner - Mushroom Festival
Around the Square                                       September  2019

No town throws a party quite like Kennett Square, and the September calendar is full of great events. The month's festivities kick off with the 34th annual Mushroom Festival this weekend, as well as the gala opening of a new show at Square Pear Gallery, "Spaces & Faces." We're also looking forward to welcoming 100+ craft brewers to the 22nd annual Kennett Brewfest on September 28th. Tickets for Brewfest are still available but going fast.

Here in Kennett Square we honor the Hispanic cultures of so many in our community during National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15-October 15. The celebrations begin on September 15th at 3 pm with a community picnic hosted by Casa Guanajuato at Anson B. Nixon Park with food trucks, music, flags, a special ceremony, and traditional costumes. On September 19th, the final Third Thursday of the season will have a special focus for National Hispanic Heritage Month with music by Trio Voz Y Sentimiento and activities organized by Casa Guanajuato and LCH. "These events reflect the rich cultural diversity of our small town, and we encourage residents and visitors alike to participate and enjoy all that Kennett Square has to offer," says Tom Sausen, President, Historic Kennett Square Board of Directors.

And last but not least this month, our Fall Restaurant Week (September 29 - October 6th) will showcase Kennett Square's exciting and ever-expanding restaurant scene with special menus and offers throughout the week.

Kennett Square combines the best of small-town local with international flavor, and our Meet Our Merchant story this month celebrates one of our restauranteurs who's been quietly garnering awards and praise from Main Line Today and the Inquirer's Craig LaBan, as well as locals and visitors who travel many miles for his chimichangas and huaraches.  Meet Julian Pena from La Pena Mexicana.

See you around the Square.

THE FLASH is an all ages concert venue where national, regional and local recording artists get up close and personal with fans.  Check out the September calendar for a noteworthy line up of shows including the JON POUSETTE-DART DUO, at The Kennett Flash on Friday, September 13th, 2019. For their part, Pousette-Dart Band reflected the sounds of the '70s, securing their place in the musical firmament by purveying that harmonious soft rock sound also advanced by bands like the Eagles, America and Orleans. Tickets are available at www.kennettflash.org. Advance tickets are $30 and tickets at the door will be $35.
 Sunday, September 15th at 7pm
