Prayer for Great Plains Lutheran High School
Lord God, source of all wisdom, we thank you for the abundant blessings bestowed throughout another school year at Great Plains Lutheran High School. We also praise you for blessing this ministry for the past 25 years. Continue to bless students everywhere through what they have learned and experienced; use the change of pace that comes with summer to recharge and ready them for more learning to come. Be with the Great Plains Lutheran faculty and staff and all who teach as they reflect on the year past and prepare for the schoolyear ahead. Bless all instruction that equips and prepares disciples of Christ to do all things to your glory. Amen.
7th Annual GPL Open
The 7th Annual GPL Open will be held at Cattail Crossing Golf course in Watertown, on Monday, July 12th. The registration fee of $90 ($50 for students) includes 18 holes of golf, the use of a motorized golf cart, participation gifts, and a burger bar at Cattail Crossing following the tournament. This year registration and payment for the open can be done online using the bidpal platform that was used for Fall Festival. The registration deadline is July 7th. We hope to see you there!

Staffing Update
As the school year comes to a close we acknowledge the service of Liz Arndt, Rev. Paul Lindhorst, Janine Pluger, and Tyler Wahl as they move on to new stages of life and ways of serving. We also thank the Lord for providing willing and faithful workers as we look to the future: Kathleen Hesford (Business Manager), Jeff Roloff (Director of Mission Advancement), Sarah Roloff (Mission Advancement Assistant), and Michael Starr (Dormitory Supervisor).
Sports Camps at GPLHS this Summer
GPL is the site for several different sports camps this summer. Check the list below.
·       June 17-19 Basketball camp (8th-12th grade)
·       July 24-25 Volleyball camp (8th-12th grade)
·       June 25-26 Football camp (9th-12th grade)

Financial Aid Application Deadline
Please note that families seeking financial aid to attend GPL have two deadlines to apply.
·       May 15 –decisions reported June 1
·       July 15 –decisions reported August 1

Delegate Meeting Summary
On Saturday, May 1, the GPLHS Association Delegates gathered for their second meeting of this fiscal year to discuss current school business, hold elections, adopt the budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year and receive an update on the progress of the building expansion and funding. We are so grateful for those willing to serve on our Board of Directors and Endowment Committee. Alex Hunt, Rev. Gerhardt Juergens, Jordan Kjenstad, Nathan Scharlemann, and Heath Stone were elected to the Board. Virgil Borns and Seth Hansen were elected to the Endowment Committee.  
Panther Camp
Camp Luther will not be happening this summer.
For those who have registered for Panther Camp, remember check-in begins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9. The camp will conclude on Saturday, June 12 with closing devotion at 11:00 a.m.
Building Construction Update
Work on the auditorium roof has been completed. The construction crew will next be working on the structure linking the auditorium to our current school building.
Crews are pushing forward on construction of the new kitchen/commons, with the goal of completing this area prior to the start of school in August. Structural steel is in place. Exterior framing has been completed and the roof has been installed. Next, the floor will be prepped and poured, windows will be installed, and interior framing will take place.
Facility Expansion Update
  • Work on the kitchen/commons is moving forward with the goal of completion before the start of the 2021-22 school year.
  • We hope that the chapel/auditorium/music room will be completed in time for our Christmas Concert in December of 2021.
  • Due to delays in the delivery of structural steel, work on the auxiliary gym will not begin until mid-summer.
Capital Campaign Update
  • Donations of $2,525,685 have been received in support of the current construction components.
  • Gifts of $243,341 have been given toward Finishing Touches – providing furnishings and equipment for the spaces under construction. (Finishing Touches Goal = $560,000)
  • Gifts of $136,832 have been given toward Bridging the Gap – reducing the amount that will need to be financed as part of our current project financial plan.
Mission Advancement Update
In July, Jeff Roloff will begin his duties as our Director of Mission Advancement. Jeff is very familiar with the mission of Great Plains Lutheran. He served in our district for 18 years, including 9 years as athletic director, coach, and teacher at GPL. Jeff’s passion for Christian education and GPLHS are well known to many of you. However, this is a new role for Mr. Roloff, and it will take some time to get to know the ins and outs of this new position....Read More
