A Message from Christina
Happy fall, my favorite season! This is a season of gratitude and one where Impact Austin's generous spirit really shines. Supporting the extraordinary, inspiring work of Community Partners who are changing the world is why we do what we do, and your leadership and collective efforts are how we do what we do

Join us for Town Hall! This year's Town Hall is Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 PM Central. Our event, Embracing Trust-Based Philanthropy, will feature a panel of national experts, the announcement of our Social Innovation Grant award and an update on Impact Austin. All are welcome-- Make sure to register at https://www.impactaustin.org/town-hall-meeting.

For members, please check your inboxes. Online voting for the Social Innovation Grant starts this week. And did you receive your member survey? Please take a few minutes to thoughtfully complete it. Your input will shape the future of Impact Austin. If you have not received it, please email contact@impactaustin.org.

You can support Impact Austin by volunteering for a committee. As a volunteer-powered organization, we are always looking for women interested in planning events, recruiting and welcoming new members, or assisting with PR and marketing! Also, this year, you'll be able to get involved and join a Grant Review committee virtually! Visit the new GRC page on our website.

We welcome all women with a desire to give back and make an impact-- whether you are new to Austin, have lived here for years, are a beginner in philanthropy or well-versed in collective giving.

Thank you all so much for your contributions, both big and small, to Central Texas area nonprofits.

Be well,
Christina

P.S. A special thank you to Monica Deal, Michelle Rankin, Karen McLinden and Kimberly Klein for all of the work, time, and energy that you have each contributed to the SIG grant.
Town Hall Meeting
Town Hall Meeting is one of Impact Austin's signature events, and it’s coming up soon on November 10. Registration is now open for our online gathering, which is free, inclusive, and open to guests! The theme is “Embracing Trust-Based Philanthropy." Bios of our nationally-known speakers and the event schedule are in our blog. Sponsors are warmly invited to support the event, and details about sponsorship opportunities are here. And there's more!

The 2020 Social Innovation Grant (SIG) will be awarded at Town Hall, and we'll also hear from the collaborative funded by our 2019 SIG to launch The Innocence Initiative. This is becoming a can’t-miss event! Speaking of that, if you missed the 2019 Town Hall, enjoy this highlight reel.
2020 Social Innovation Grant Voting
Icon-SocialInnovation
Don't forget that Impact Austin members have an integral role in awarding our grants. Member vote for the Social Innovation Grant will be open October 29 to November 5. All necessary information will be sent to members. A preview of the two SIG finalists is on our blog
Philanthropy Education
Giving Through a Gender Lens webinar Oct 2020
Impact Austin programming is virtual for 2020, but the content recently offered has been a wow! Facebook Live events are preserved on our Facebook page; and more videos are available on our YouTube channel. Please follow/subscribe to both!

Check out our website blog for the recap of a recent webinar, “Giving Through a Gender Lens.” We thank speaker-sponsors Mary Jovanovich of Schwab Charitable and Suzanne Wheeler from Mariner Wealth Advisors for helpful and inspiring content. Thanks also to member Rise' Candelaria for hosting. You can re-watch the webinar on our Facebook page.

Impact Austin members Alison Alter and Kathy Terry recently offered online discussions related to Austin nonprofits and giving with inLieu, respectively. Thanks to both of you!

The next Philanthropy Education events are Town Hall, of course, and a new Facebook Live event on December 1. While other nonprofits are celebrating Giving Tuesday, we'll toast Collective Giving Tuesday, celebrating how collective giving boosts our power as philanthropists. Join us at 9:00 AM, December 1, on Facebook Live.
Membership
Recruitment
Like everything else, member recruitment events are virtual in 2020. Thanks to several teams within Impact Austin for hosting online events to share information about our organization and community impact. Special applause goes to Zones leadership, the Board of Directors, and the Grants team.
Recruitment is now an inclusive, year-round practice. Town Hall is the next great opportunity to introduce Impact Austin to a friend or colleague. Registration is open to all! Or, invite a friend to your next virtual Zone gathering. See the dates below.
What's New?
Year-round recruitment is new. A monthly payment option for membership dues is new for 2020 also. Another new benefit: incoming members are eligible to vote on grants as soon as dues payment is initiated. Details are being mailed to members, but the information is also available here and on our blog.
Membership Survey
Members were emailed a survey designed with assistance from the CONNECT program at UT’s LBJ School of Public Affairs. Survey results will inform the Strategic Planning Committee and Board of Directors about activities that can help improve your Impact Austin experience. Please complete your survey; results will be shared in December.
New Member Orientation
New members will receive a Zoom link for a meeting on December 2, 6:30-7:30 PM. This will include some impact Austin 101, plus information on upcoming events and an overview of committees and volunteer opportunities. As already mentioned, Impact Austin is volunteer-powered and we can't wait to welcome you to one of our many committees!
Girls Giving Grants
Our youth initiative Girls Giving Grants (g3) is underway, with 76 girls meeting online from Cedar Park to Dripping Springs and representing 19 different schools. Co-chairs Sue Breland and Sarah Williamson would like to add another adult Advisor to the team, someone (ideally, but not necessarily) with experience on a GRC. Meeting details are here. The g3 grant of $7,600 is open for applications through 5:00 PM on November 6.
Zones
The Zones team has fun Zoom events planned around Halloween trivia (Oct 27) and winter holiday traditions (Dec 8). If you’re not already signed up with a Zone, connect here.

Also, recruitment is underway for a second work shift at the Central Texas Food Bank on Saturday, Nov 14; the last experience on Aug 28 was very successful and meaningful to members. If you have questions about this special IA group volunteer activity, please contact Tonya Netzley
