A Note From Our Principal

Thank you to our Cario families for your support and cooperation as we have worked together over the past few weeks to navigate our new "normal". Our students and teachers are doing a phenomenal job, whether they are learning/teaching remotely or in-person. It has been exciting to see our students return to school in the various instructional modes and adapt to their new surroundings. While some things may look and feel different, students remain engaged, excited, and eager to learn!

We have started this year very differently than anyone could have anticipated. There have been countless hours preparing schedules, our school building, and lessons for students. We will continue to rise to the challenge and make the most of this school year. We ask that you join us in being kind, resilient, and supportive as we work to support the academic and social-emotional success of all students.

Thank you, again, and we look forward to our partnership through this unique school year!
Sincerely,
Gayle Morris

PTSO Housekeeping
Hello :)

It's been a interesting start of the 20/21 School year. With virtual school and multiple in -person start dates for the children and teachers, things are constantly changing. Though it may seem like crazy times, I know that the administration and staff of Cario are trying their very best to make it as "normal" for our kiddos as possible. As for the PTSO, we got to give out the teachers mini-grant requests through the help of your membership contributions. We've done multiple lunches and treats for the teachers so far. Two of which were completely parent donated, one catered from Charleston Catering and the other from ohsnapcookies.net. Thank you for these and I know 100% the teachers and staff appreciated it!! The board is also working on ways to treat the kiddos too! We ordered 5 different kinds of new recess balls: including footballs, dodgeballs, volleyballs, soccer balls & basketballs. They were delivered to each pod on Friday 10/9!!
The Park West Campus Education Fund (our primary fundraising body) was dissolved this year. Resulting in each school on the Park West campus will be returning to its individual fundraisers this year. We are actively thinking of new ways, so stay turned for things to come!

We are hoping that the school store will be able to reopen for this school year, but as of right now it remains closed. We will keep you updated on any changes.

There are no volunteer opportunities so far for this year, but as soon as we can, we hope all of you will be on board!! Please make sure to follow the Cario Middle School Facebook page, & the Cario Middle School Parents Facebook page. This seasonal newsletter will have information and other fun things we had or will be having announced as well. We will be having a Cario PTSO Facebook page as well, it is under construction but please go on and ask to join!
Which brings me to the next topic... Board Seats!!
We currently have a few seats open on the Cario PTSO board. The Store seats obviously will be needed when the store can re-open. The new seats of social media mediator and fundraiser coordinator would be open asap.

*Co-School Store admin(merch, commericials, ect.)
*Co-School Store admin(deposits,books balance,volenteers)
*Social Media Mediator(keep sites up with new, important, info. as well as correct info.)
*Fundraiser Coordinator(Cario Stars)

If you would like to join our PTSO board in any capacity large or small, please email us at CARIOPTSO@gmail.com. We meet once a month, right now over zoom, for about 90mins. Meetings are important to attend due to constant new info.

Thank you all for your support this year! I know things are all new and different but we are working on making this still a great Cario year!
GO COMETS!

Media Center News

The library *is* checking out books! Students can come to the library and browse the stacks (with extra precautions like limiting the number of patrons and hand sanitizing on the way in). Books are quarantined for 6 days before returning to the shelves. Students can also browse using Destiny Discover, our online catalog. This process has been promoted and demonstrated on our CTV News Program. Temporary remote students can check out books, too, we can have them ready for curbside pickup.
The Cario Library is more than books so we are also open for chilling, relaxing, and unwinding in the #cozycorner or #booknook. Our programming is limited due to coronavirus precautions, but we have an unending supply of smiles for students.
