Hello Parents!
Congrats on getting through the busy first week of school!! We hope all your kids have been enjoying their first few days of getting to know their teachers, being reacquainted with friends, and meeting new ones. As the year kicks-off we want to send a few important reminders to check off your to-do list.

- Joined the PTA?

Our web team has created incredibly helpful video tutorials for both our web site and our app to showcase all the new features and share "how to" tips. You can now buy tickets, sign up for various volunteer opportunities, organize your calendar, download forms, receive important reminders, and much more online.
We encourage all families to join the PTA if you haven't already. PTA membership will provide access to our online directory as well as many other benefits of being part of the Riverside PTA community. We count on the membership drive to support the many programs and experiences we provide throughout the year. Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation!
Please note that our Fall Afters program registration will be closing today, Friday, September 6th at 5pm. There are limited spaces still available if interested.
Lastly, we hope to see you at the School's Open House next Thursday, September 12th. Please note the times below for grade classroom visits and specials.

FALL AFTERS
Registration for Fall Afters closes today, Friday, September 6th at 5pm. Classes start Monday,
September 16th. We are looking forward to an exciting Fall Afters session with lots of new and returning programs that your child(ren) will love!

UPDATE YOUR DIRECTORY INFORMATION AND JOIN THE PTA!

and update your family information for this year, including your child's new teacher and any other changes. While you're there, we encourage all parents to become PTA members. Membership not only supports all the amazing programs our PTA brings into the school, but also gives you unlimited access to the online and app directory. Visit the

DOWNLOAD THE SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER APP 
We are using School Dismissal Manager again this year. It is an excellent online tool that will notify the school when anything needs to be changed in your child's dismissal plan for a particular day.
Please create a login to manage your child(ren)'s attendance and dismissal information (please refer to the email sent from Principal Weiss on Monday, Aug 26th with more details).
If you used School Dismissal Manager last year, you can log in with your existing credentials.

SIGN UP FOR SAFETY DUTY
We encourage you to sign up for Safety Duty which is the coverage to help kids get out of cars safely in the drop-off lane in front of school from 8:30-8:45am (only 15 minutes). You can sign-up through this safety duty link on the Riverside School PTA Volunteer Homepage.

RIVERSIDE EARLY MORNING PROGRAM
The
Early Morning Program at Riverside School provides a childcare option for Riverside students prior to the start of the regular school day. The program runs Monday through Friday from 7:15am until school opens at 8:30am. Any questions, contact Kristine Redlien at

School Picture Day is Tuesday September 24th. Order forms in your child's Friday folder today. ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISER - SAVE THE DATE! 
Please save the date for Riverside School's Annual Fall
Fundraiser which will be held on
Saturday, October 19th at 7pm.
This year's event will have a "Riverside U" theme.
Tickets will go on sale soon.

OPEN HOUSE NIGHT - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH 
Save the date for the Open House Night on Thursday,
September 12th. Please note this is a parent/guardian only event with the teachers. We ask that students not be brought to the school during Open House. Thank you.
Please note the following visitation times:
Classroom Visits
- 6-6:45 pm - Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade classroom visits with the teacher

7:15-8 pm - 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classroom visits with the teacher
Specialist Presentation
-
6:45-7:15 pm - Special combined slide presentation for interested parents by all of our specialist teachers (in our cafe or possibly the gym).
ALP Open House Hours that evening:
- ALP Reading
6:00-6:30 pm
- ALP Math
6:30 - 7:00 pm
After the presentation, both teachers will be in their classrooms for visitations

ROTATING SCHEDULE HAS BEEN ELIMINATED
Please note the rotating schedule for specials will no longer be used and we will return to a schedule based on the day of the week vs. the A,B,C,D,E letter schedule. Please contact your teacher for schedule questions and information.

SUPPORT GROUP FOR GPS SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN 
Strong moms and dads raise strong kids. Come network with other special needs families as we form an inclusive and accepting community for our children. Join us for monthly meetings. Our first meeting will be held on September 17 at First Church in
