Restoring Hope
At the Cup of Compassion breakfast on February 17th, we shared the video above of Norasha-Nya and how she managed to move her life forward after experiencing sexual assault.
Celebrating 50 Years at the Cup of Compassion
On Thursday, February 17th, over 400 community members gathered in person and virtually for the Crisis Center’s 19th annual Cup of Compassion fundraising breakfast.

Crystal Clark of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office served as the master of ceremonies. The event speakers included Board Chair Meredith Freeman, Crisis Center CEO Clara Reynolds, and client Norasha-Nya Burton.

Clara Reynolds reflected on the Crisis Center’s 50 year legacy throughout the community and how services have grown and evolved over the course of the Crisis Center’s history, always adapting to meet the needs of the community in whichever way is needed.

After a video of her story was shared, Norasha-Nya spoke about the community that surrounded her – friends, family members, police officers, Crisis Center staff – as she navigated the world in the days following each of her assaults before ultimately finding healing.

A special thank you to our event sponsors, as well as Bob Gries and Elizabeth and Tim Traud who each committed to matching up to $25,000 in gifts. Combined with the donations made in person and virtually, over $450,000 was raised!
Shred Documents While
Supporting the Crisis Center
Our friends at Shred 360 are hosting a shred event on Friday, April 1st from 11:00am - 1:00pm in the NetPark Tampa plaza at Hillsborough Avenue and 56th Street. Bring up to two boxes of documents to shred with a cash donation of your choosing to have your items confidentially destroyed. Proceeds from the event benefit the Crisis Center.
50 Years in the Gateway Contact Center
2022 marks the 50th year of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay providing support to the community. While our services have expanded and adapted to meet needs over the years, the contact center was originally launched by volunteers and Tampa residents to provide suicide and crisis intervention services.
Thank you to our Cup of Compassion sponsors!
