As a member of the clergy on the retired list, we would like to bring to your attention the following three matters related to Synod:
  1. Voting Status
  2. Distribution List
  3. Registration Fee
These should serve as reminders.
 
Voting Status
To paraphrase The Constitution of the Diocese, clergy on the retired list who regularly attend Synod are voting members of Synod, until such time as they miss two consecutive Regular Sessions of Synod without showing cause (expressing regrets), or a total of four Regular Sessions of Synod, whatever the cause. If you lose the right to vote at Synod, you will continue to have the right to attend and speak at sessions of Synod after that date, but not to vote.

As the right to vote is very important to many retired members of the clergy, I wanted you to be aware of this.  If you find you cannot attend a session of Synod, you are urged to send your regrets to Bishop Andrew Asbil or Pamela Boisvert so that you do not lose your voting status.

The next Regular Session of Synod is scheduled for November 8 and 9, 2019 at the Sheraton Parkway in Richmond Hill.  Learn more.
 
Distribution List
In keeping with our commitment to Synod's 2011 theme "Celebrating this Fragile Earth" and building on the success of previous practices, ALL information for Synod will ONLY be available electronically on the diocesan website (www.toronto.anglican.ca/upcomingsynod).

Members will receive regular Synod Updates by email leading up to a session of Synod. The first Synod Update for our upcoming session was emailed to Members of Synod on Sept. 5.

If you would like to be removed from future Synod Update emails, please notify Pamela Boisvert  .

Registration Fee

To help defray the costs of meals, beverages and accommodation during Synod, each Member of Synod will be charged a registration fee of $195. In September, parishes were invoiced through the accounts receivable process for their lay Synod Members and main priest.
 
For all other members of Synod, e.g. clergy who are retired or not appointed to a parish, the registration fee must be paid before October 1, 2019. Payment can be made using PayPal when you register online for Synod or by sending a cheque payable to "The Incorporated Synod of the Diocese of Toronto" clearly marked "SYNOD 2019" mailed to: Accounts Receivable, The Anglican Diocese of Toronto, 135 Adelaide St. E., Toronto, ON M5C 1L8.
 
Online Registration will open on Sept. 10 and close on Oct. 1. Detailed instructions on how to pre-register will be emailed to all Members of Synod on Sept. 9.
