Comunidad,

Welcome back and happy week two! At this time of public health crisis, the physical space of the UC San Diego Raza Resource Centro is closed, and will remain closed for the remainder of the Spring Quarter.

For all our community, know that we are here for you. The Centro career staff is available and accessible remotely for consultation, connection and conversation. Building community is what we do - even remotely! Contact us if you want to set up a time either over the phone or via Zoom:
Gerardo Arellano, gearellano@ucsd.edu
Claudia Martinez, claudiamartinez@ucsd.edu
Omar Padilla, o 1padilla@ucsd.edu
Alison Salgado, a3salgad@ucsd.edu
Our new hours operation, as we are now working from home, are 9am-4pm. Please send us an email first to set up a time to chat. We are available for: check-ins, consultations, writing support, student org. support, balancing being at home and going to school, having chats with parents if they have questions/issues with this new format, etc.

Continue to take care of yourselves.

En solidaridad,

Cal State LA RISE program applications are open!

The Cal State LA Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) training program funded by the National Institutes of Health, is aimed at developing the careers of talented underrepresented students so they are ready to succeed in PhD programs. The RISE MS-to-PhD component is a two-year program specifically designed for Masters students. The fellowships include funds for registration fees/tuition, research supplies, and for travel to professional meetings. Overall, the fellowships provide each trainee over $64,000 in support over the two years of their MS program.

If interested in applying, for more info and the application visit: calstatela.edu/sites/default/files/users/u117121/2020_rise_ms_application_2.pdf

The review of applications will begin Wednesday April 15, 2020 and continue until all positions are filled.  Students are highly encouraged to apply to RISE MS-to-PhD on or before this date.
