Upper School News
Dear Upper School Families -

This week, Lower School Students joined our Upper School Science classes for some Spooky Science! Once again, what a joy to see the kids all working together. After a hectic time the past few weeks, things finally seem to be slowing down a bit. Seniors have sent many early college applications off, and Carnival is behind us. Now, we can look ahead to some of our exciting upcoming activities.

Final JST Deadline
JST submission time is almost at an end. The group project deadline is Monday, November 11. Please remember that group projects are first come - first serve, with some faculty projects already closed. All information needed to complete paperwork can be found at  http://www.roycemoreschool.org/jst . If you have any questions, please contact Bill Horine at bhorine @roycemoreschool.org  immediately.


Basketball Season is Upon Us!
I n preparation, we will have US open gym Monday-Thursday from 7:15am-8:10am starting November 4th . Open to all but especially encouraged by Coach Jones if students want to play basketball.


Parent-Teacher Conferences - November 7 & 8
All families have received an invitation to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences via 'Sign-Up Genius'. Conferences run from 2:00-7:30pm on Thursday the 7th, and 8:30am-3:30pm on Friday the 8th. Please be sure to get your responses in ASAP as times fill up fast (in particular Thursday evening and Friday early morning). Please note there is no school for students on Friday the 8th. Adobe and Northwestern Creative Jam, November 15th
Roycemore will be the 1st High School in the world to host a Creative Jam!
Creative Jams are Adobe events where local design thought leaders share a behind-the-scenes peek into their processes and projects. Teams compete in a tournament-style event that puts their creative skills to the test using Adobe Creative Cloud products. Roycemore is proud to partner with Adobe and Northwestern University to embark on this quest to host the first Creative Jam for High School students. All Upper School Roycemore students are encouraged to participate and more information will be coming soon. What an amazing opportunity for our students!

Internship Opportunity
Interested in Real Estate, Trade Finance, Supply Chain, or Health Care? We have an opportunity for you to work with Annie Homsy (Roycemore alum class of '05). Her company is FemTech Solutions Corp, www.femtechsolutions.com . They started 2 years ago and are looking to continue their growth trajectory. The internship is 6 months unpaid. Students can work remotely and would be responsible for helping create social media content for the company and post it online as well as further engagement with the community. Mentorship Opportunity!
Our Middle School personal passion projects (P3) are off to a great start! This year, all middle schoolers are connecting with a real-world problem associated with their own passion and interests, then using the Design Thinking process to design solutions to their chosen problem. We are looking for mentors to help our Middle School students with these projects. We are in need of experts from ALL fields to serve as mentors, with a particular need in the following areas: animal welfare, environmental action, community service, entrepreneurship, and technology. Loaner Chromebooks
There are a very limited number of Chromebooks available for students to use if their personal devices are not working. Please return immediately when finished. Thanks!

Attendance
If you know your student will be absent on an upcoming day due to a medical appointment, college visit or other needed reason, please be sure to email: attendance@roycemoreschool.org. Students who will miss school should also take a form to their teachers for signatures and to get information on any classes they will miss. Forms are available in the Upper School office.
