Black Friday Bash
Drop the kids off with us for the day so you can shop till you drop or clean up the house from your big Thanksgiving dinner! Children will participate in sports, games, arts & crafts, enrichment activities, and more. We will provide donuts, pizza, and on-site entertainment. Please send your child with a water bottle, snack(s), sneakers, and clothes appropriate for outdoor/gym play. If your child cannot have donuts or pizza, please send them with an alternative and alert staff at drop-off. Please label all belongings! Parent/guardian(s) must show photo ID at pick-up. Masks required for all participants, visitors, and staff.

Time: We’re open 7am-7pm; parent/guardian(s) can drop-off/pick-up anytime during that time frame
Location: Jefferson Youth Center, 250 Athens Blvd, Tonawanda—Please park in the lot on Oakvale and drop-off/pick-up at door 3
Cost: $38 Kids Club members, $50 non-members
Registration: Register and pay online at www.ttypr.com, at the Youth, Parks & Recreation office (299 Decatur Rd; open 8am-4pm M-F), or drop off a check and registration form to Jefferson during our Kids Club hours. Must register in advance! No walk-ins. We also need an online member pre-registration form submitted for each child (emergency contact info, allergies, etc.). Registration code 516043
Start Smart Programs
All activities listed take place at the former Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, 250 Athens Blvd. Please park in the lot on Oakvale and enter at the door designated in program description below. Check in at the security desk in the hallway. Participants and parent/guardian(s) must wear mask and go through our health screening process. Sponsor t-shirt provided.
Registration: Must register in advance online at www.ttypr.com, or at the Youth, Parks & Recreation office. No walk-ins. We must meet a minimum number of registrants in order to run each program.
Scholarships available based on financial need.
Start Smart Move & Play
The Start Smart Move and Play program is a developmentally appropriate introductory fine and gross motor skills program for children ages 2-3. Developing these motor skills in a safe, fun, and age appropriate environment will ensure that the participants gain strength and confidence in their body. It will help them get exercise and physical activity. Finally, developing these skills will help a child’s ability to do more complex skills in future activities, whether it’s playing a sport, doing school projects or drawing/painting. Parent/guardian must participate.
Dates: Saturdays, October 31-December 19
Time: 9:45-10:45am
Cost: $40 for residents for 8-week session, $50 for non-residents

Start Smart Basketball
Start Smart Basketball is a developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children ages 4-7. This six-week program prepares children and their parents for organized basketball in a fun, non-threatening environment. Age-appropriate equipment is used in teaching dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting, and running/agility. Includes basketball and participant manual. Parent/guardian must participate (this is not a drop-off program). Parent volunteers needed!
Session 1: Saturdays, November 7-December 19 (no instruction 11/28—Open Gym)
Time: 9:00-10:00am for ages 4-5; 10:30-11:30am for ages 6-7
Cost: $50 for residents for 6-week session; $60 for non-residents

Public Skating
Lincoln Arena is now open for public skating and skate & shoot sessions! Skates are now available to rent in most sizes ($1/youth, $2/adult).

Brighton & Lincoln Arenas: $175 per hour
Discounted rate $160 per hour available any day after 11:00pm or Monday-Friday before 3:00pm
One hour includes 50 minutes on ice & 10 minute resurface time

Senior Citizens Center Updates

Wellness
Everyone entering the Senior Center will have a temperature check and will be asked wellness questions. You must wear a mask! At this time, only the programming listed in this newsletter is ongoing & you must be pre-registered to participate. Other programming such as cards, groups, table tennis, shuffleboard etc. have not yet begun.


Erie County Stay Fit Dining Nutrition Program
The lunch program at the Senior Center has resumed. Lunch is served Monday – Friday at Noon. The limit is 40 people per day. All tables are 10 feet apart and chairs are 6 feet apart. You MUST pre-register. (see menu)
Free Activities
The Senior Center will offer Exercise on Mondays and Thursdays, Preventing Falls on Fridays and Bingo on various days at no charge to our members. Space is limited and you MUST be pre-registered for all activities! Call the Center for more information.
Transportation
We have started running our transportation service on a more regular basis. 2 of our 3 vans are back in service. Right now, doctor appointments are taking precedent, but we will try to fit in grocery shopping if there is room on a given day. If you are in need of transportation, you can reach the dispatcher at 875-1029 Monday thru Friday from 8:30am-1:30pm.
