Technology Grants from the COVID-19 Response Fund
Address Health Needs
As a result of your support, grants are being made to assure continued and changing services for residents health needs:
-
- $6,225 grant to Advocacy Center supports enhanced hotline services due to increased call volume and additional technology to provide secure mobile services that assure confidentiality protocols.
- $10,000 grant to Family & Children's Service of Ithaca for staff technology to assure mental health services virtually. This grant is in response to the changing mental health needs of local residents.

Community Impact Committee takes on
Ripple Effect Mapping
In order to better understand the impact of our grants and grant processes, our Community Impact Committee, chaired by Ann Martin, recently engaged the leaders of 11 local grantee organizations in carrying out Ripple Effect Mapping (REM) with Cornell leadership. This process assures community input and helps to build on areas of strength.
The REM software provides a dynamic illustration of impact, stories, themes and growth potential. Analysis is being carried out. The impact will inform service provision and strategic planning.
The process was facilitated by a Cornell team of experts that successfully pivoted their process to the virtual environment, assuring this work be carried out at a time when impactful, rapid response grants are supporting essential needs in our community.

Food Security Grants help with needed Coordination
In addition to technology grants mentioned above, the COVID-19 Response Fund continues to make food security type grants that assure equitable and inclusive services throughout Tompkins County.
These grants assure continued success of coordinated food distribution. Over $20,000 in grants are being awarded to the Tompkins County Food Task Force for ongoing coordination of food production, distribution and communication.

More Than Grants
New Recovery Loan Fund for Local Businesses
The Community Foundation has been a key collaborator in launching an initiative to establish a fund to provide low-cost economic development loans to key commercial storefront businesses in Ithaca. Working with City of Ithaca, Downtown Ithaca Alliance, Tompkins Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Development Center. Funds for this city-wide program have been raised from anonymous philanthropic individuals. The Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services will service the loans.
