Parish Newsletter October 2020
Message From Father King:
Despite the craziness around us, God continues to bless our Guardian Angels Family. The final work on our church’s air conditioning repairs/replacements is happening this week, so by the end of the month that project will be completed.

Speaking of projects completed, our new GPS air purifying system has now been installed in all our campus buildings. So, we have a much healthier environment for all. A special thank you to all those generous angels who have made a contribution to these two projects. So far, we have covered about half of the cost of these projects.

The first month of the school year is in the books (what a great pun!). A shout out to our school administration, teachers, maintenance staff, parents and students for a job well done, despite all their many challenges.

And speaking of our school, two of our graduates, now high school seniors, are semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship competition: William Eckert and John Piehowicz. Congratulations gentleman.

Finally, a big thank you to Eileen Jarrold and Anne Kron. Over the years they not only have overseen the decorations of our church at Christmas and Easter and attend to the plants in our church’s Gathering Space but have been responsible for the beautiful flowers around Mary’s grotto. Now with some new volunteers, they are turning their attention to other areas of our grounds.

Thank you to all our parishioners who bless our Guardian Angels family through their prayers and through the gifts of their time, talent and treasure.

May God bless you all.

Fr. King

Monster Mash On Wheels Is October 24th
Join us Saturday, October 24th! This year, we’re taking our Annual Monster Mash outdoors for a fun filled, 4-door (or two!) showcase of amusingly adorned automobiles. Following social distancing guidelines, families will decorate their vehicles in their designated parking spot for a chance to win one of three prizes. Families will be directed through a walking route to view all cars and, along the way, stop at candy stations to pick up pre packaged treat bags. All children need to be accompanied by an adult at all times. No food or drinks will be provided at this event. We are asking families to RSVP online AND make a donation to the parish to participate in this event. The suggested donation for each family is a minimum of $20. A flyer with more information is attached.

Treats are being collected to be handed out during this event; to donate items, click here.

If you have questions, please email Amy Smith
Parties By Parishioners - Pizza Party With Fr Brausch

The Gillmings enjoyed a beautiful evening at Mt. St Mary’s Seminary with Father Anthony Brausch & Father King while learning to make pizza in his outdoor pizza oven. News From the Youth Ministry Office

Youth Group Meetings - October
This month, we’ll be discussing the importance of virtue in our decision-making – perfect in light of the upcoming election. We will be taking a non-partisan, completely Catholic approach to not only choosing virtuous leaders, but also how to form our conscience and become virtuous leaders ourselves. High School Youth Group meets at 7:00pm on Thursday evenings and will unpacking this theme through activities, discussion, presentations, music, shared prayer, and recreational opportunities. Middle School Youth Group currently meets on First Fridays at 5:00pm and will conclude with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with the parish.

  2. Make sure each student has both a Youth Ministry Release and a Contact & Medical Form on file for the year (both can be completed digitally by clicking the links).

Adults Greatly Needed for Youth Ministry
We are blessed to be growing our youth ministry community of students, but we need you! Adults of any age will be key in continuing to offer safe, friendly, and faith-filled activities and opportunities for students. We are asking any adult to fill out this Adult Interest Survey to determine if you could help with small groups, weekly meetings, monthly activities, or even one-time events through the year. Filling out the survey does not commit you to anything; Bradley Barnes will simply follow up with you to see if there is a place in our community that’s right for you. Please complete it today, and share it with many others!
Masses Continue to Be Streamed Each Sunday

We would like to remind you that watching Mass through our YouTube and Facebook live stream continues to be an option. We stream the Sunday 10am Mass, which can also be played back on either channel at a later time.

Random Act of Kindness Day With Brad's Blessings
Brad’s Blessings will again celebrate Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Day on October 22nd. We will be delivering “sunshine boxes” to individuals battling cancer or other significant illnesses for RAK Day. If you know someone with cancer or another significant illness that could use a little sunshine, please visit Brad’s Blessings to nominate them by Saturday, October 10th.

We also ask you to join us on October 22nd to do your own RAK. Big or small, we hope you will consider being the sunshine in someone’s day.

Brad’s Blessings is a 501(c)(3) organization started in memory of Brad Giesting, a graduate of Guardian Angels School and McNicholas High School. Brad served his country in the 101st Airborne Division with a tour of duty in Iraq. After returning home, he was diagnosed with a rare liposarcoma. RAK Day commemorates the anniversary of his death on October 22, 2016. Visit Brad’s Blessings website for more information. Thank you for your support!
