Dear Primary School Families,
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning. We know this year has brought many challenges to our students, their families, and our community. We are committed to offering a quality educational experience for our students. To help us better prepare for our upcoming virtual Open House, we are asking parents and guardians to complete a brief survey to gather input and questions. Click here to access the form.
We have continued to prioritize health and safety and are proud to be the first school in the Chartiers Valley School District to offer a +2 Hybrid option (4 days in-person / Fridays remote) beginning today, October 5. Enrollment for this is now closed. If you wish to pursue the 4-day option, you will be able to do so at the end of the first 9-weeks (October 26).
We are very excited to welcome back so many students for 4 days of in-person instruction! As a reminder, any school materials that are at home should be sent in with your child over the next few days. Supply lists are still available here on the website.
DATE CLARIFICATION: Previous District communication reported that students have a half day on October 30. All Fridays are remote learning days for all students (CV Cyber, Hybrid, and Hybrid +2), so students should complete a half day of work remotely on October 30.
Also, there is no school for students on Monday, November 2 and Tuesday, November 3.
Finally, we want to send a sincere thanks to the CVPS community for all of the hard work and dedication this school year within our Hybrid and CV Cyber programs. We are extremely proud of how our students and families have adjusted to different learning environments, and we truly appreciate the support!

Dental Visits
The Smile Mobile Dentist visits have been postponed until May due to COVID-19 concerns. As of now, the dates are as follows:
May 3, 2021 - Intermediate School
May 4, 2021 - Primary School
May 5, 2021 - Middle School
Screenings
Our typical screening timeline for weight, height, vision, and hearing will be pushed back to a later time. Our department wants to ensure that screenings are performed in the safest way possible. If you have specific concerns about your child, please reach out to your building’s School Nurse.
Flu
Flu vaccines will be highly recommended this cold and flu season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Per the CDC, influenza vaccination will be paramount to reduce the impact of respirator illness in the population. Our department is working hard to keep our students and staff healthy and safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your building School Nurse with any questions or concerns!

STARTING TODAY - Changes to Afternoon Pick-Up
Students riding the bus will continue to be dismissed at 3:30 pm. However, starting today, Monday, October 5, after school pick up (by parents/guardians) will be staggered at 3:20 pm and 3:40 pm. The following information was sent out last week:
Kindergarten and Second Grade student pick-up will begin at 3:20 pm.The parent’s end of the process will remain the same:
--parents/guardians enter through Door #15 near the gymnasium
--parents/guardians sign for the release of the child with Campus Safety
--parents/guardians unite with their student in the gymnasium
First Grade student pick-up will begin at 3:40 pm. The parent’s end of the process will remain the same EXCEPT it will take place in the LGI:
--parents/guardians enter through Door #15 near the gymnasium
--parents/guardians sign for the release of the child with Campus Safety
--parents/guardians unite with their student in the LGI room
Parents with children in both first grade and another grade may pick up both students at 3:20 pm.
Occasional After School Student Pick Up
As a reminder, if you are planning to pick up your child in the afternoon occasionally, you must complete the Online Pick Up form before 1:30 that day. We have twice as many students being picked up this year. Completing the form prior to 1:30 will help us to ensure the safety of your child. We appreciate your support with this.
Halloween Information
Halloween is a fun and exciting time for many of our children. We are planning to make this a fun time for all, while still keeping the health and safety of our children at the forefront of our plan. CVPS students will enjoy a Halloween celebration on October 29 in their homeroom. The PTG will be providing Halloween treats and activities to the homeroom teachers to facilitate the fun! Due to restrictions in place, please review the following:
- We will not have parent volunteers.
- There will be no Halloween costume parade this year.
- Please do not send in treats, treat bags, or any other items for distribution.
- Students are invited to wear Halloween-themed attire or a costume that does not impede the school day. Please do not send your child with a costume to change into.
- No face paint or masks, and no accessories to costumes.
- Students will need to wear their costume for the entire day.
Attendance
Remember to take attendance on your online learning days-it takes only a few clicks! Here’s a short video on how a student can take their attendance in Infinite Campus. Or, a parent can take their child’s attendance in Infinite Campus. Click here for a video on how a parent can take attendance.
If your child is absent from school (online or in-person), please email the PS Attendance Secretary, rfrancis@cvsd.net. If your child is a hybrid student and is too sick for school, but able to attend online, please email your child’s homeroom teacher AND rfrancis@cvsd.net to let them know your child will be working from home that day.
Still need help?
There are a few questions that may come up throughout the school year that may be addressed simply by viewing the CVPS Concerns & Who to Call page.
