January 2020 at Place des Arts
home to our arts community
Greetings!

Happy New Year! I hope this year is off to a great start, despite the weather and the standard post-holiday blues.

I am looking forward to 2021. As they say, it can only go up from here!

Classes start up again on January 4 at Place des Arts and we still have plenty of classes with space for you to register (see below)! Start this year off by learning something new! Even with the restrictions, we are working hard to try to add some normalcy to our students' lives.

If you still want to have some taste of the arts this month, we have three new exhibitions opening January 22. See the details below.

Even with the changes occurring, the arts continue to be a space to put things aside and enjoy as a form of expression, positivity and joy.

Stay warm and dry!

Communications Coordinator

Thank you to Anella and Osmosis
Long-time student of Place des Arts and last year's Youth Arts Council President, Anella, has been an important member of our arts community since she was very young.

As a part of her Capstone Graduation Project, Anella is selling her original art through her Instagram and donating all profit from the sales to Place des Arts!

We are so proud of all she has accomplished and everything she has contributed to Place des Arts.

This January, here are some ways to get involved in the arts:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ Part 1 in Concert | Orpheum Theatre
(January 28- January 30, 2021)
CineConcerts invites audiences back to witness the beginning of Harry’s most important battle yet, with the full film accompanied by a live symphony orchestra.

Wayfinding | Evergreen Art Gallery
November 14, 2020 – January 31, 2021
The exhibition brings together work by local artists Leanne M. Christie, Sara Graham and Devon Knowles, who live and create art in response to their cities—Coquitlam, Port Moody and Vancouver—and the urban architecture that makes up these spaces.

Be sure to review their website before heading out! With new orders being put in place, many events are being postponed, cancelled or require reservations.
