March 26, 2020 - News & Notes
Dear St. Michael Catholic School Families:
We are all experiencing extraordinary times and I am lifted as we unite through prayer and love for one another. St. Michael Catholic School teachers and staff want you to know that we are with you and supporting you and your family during this time. Our staff will continue to follow our mission to provide excellence and "Ignite the spiritual, academic and social growth within each child" while we move to online and distance learning.

Our teachers and staff members have been spending countless hours ensuring that online learning will roll out smoothly for Preschool to Grade 8 students at St. Michael Catholic School beginning on Monday, March 30 through May 4, as determined by Gov. Walz's decision to limit the spread of the Coronavirus. Our teachers and staff are heroic in their efforts and we will continue to support our staff financially to ensure that your child's education is not interrupted, just shared differently. All teachers have or will be reaching out each Friday by 3 p.m. with your child's homework assignments, links for the upcoming week, and live class schedules including but not limited to See Saw assignments, Google classroom, Google meetings and Zoom live classes as well as recorded lessons and online assessments.

If during this time you find that your family is in a financial hardship, please reach out directly to me and we will support your family. We thank you for partnering with us and are dedicated to supporting you, our teachers and staff and praying for our world. In addition, our District is offering curbside pick up for meals if your family is in need. The meals are at WestWood elementary from 11 to 1 p.m.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
Mental Health Support: Please be aware that at this time our children are also feeling the anxiety of all that is happening around them. While school is closed, a routine is a healthy way of structuring your days. Included scheduled time for school work, outdoor play, free-choice reading, unstructured play and rest time. Address children'd questions directly and honestly. Continuing with regular bed time and meal times is also helpful. Limit exposure to media and screen time as well.

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
