On the Road ... Virtually


In the office, my colleagues and I are swooning over machine embroidery. SCHMETZ Inspired to SEW #90 features key leaders in the machine embroidery field. A new email/social media campaign, kicking off in a few days, is centered around machine embroidery. And a new machine embroidery SCHMETZ bundle is now available on our website.  

Machine embroidery is currently not my addiction. Somewhere I lost an important cord that prevents me from doing machine embroidery. Soon, I will update my sewing machine to include an embroidery unit. Meanwhile, I adore these machine embroidered coats gracing our conference room. Christine Spencer embroidered these originally plain and boring coats making them now priceless.

The evolution of machine embroidery for the home sewer has been mind-boggling. In the 1980s, some sewing machine companies added lettering to their decorative stitches. The machine companies started to attach hoops to their machines in the 1990s, and in the early 2000s, sewing machines started to hook up to the Windows OS.

The most popular two-color combination in the quilt world must surely be RED and WHITE. In her book, Red & White Quilting, Linda Pumphrey writes, The vibrant contrast of red and white quilts has appealed to quilters for three centuries and has been a staple since the mid-nineteenth century.
