Greetings, Shelby County Schools employees.

We understand that many of you may travel during the holidays. Per CDC guidelines, individuals who participate in a high-risk activity (listed below) should be tested for COVID 3-5 days after AND stay home for a full 7 days, even if they test negative. 

If you test positive for COVID, CDC guidelines regarding isolation should be followed. You will be given directions by the healthcare provider who conducted your test. You will also need to contact SCS via email at SCSSelfReport@scsk12.org. Please include your name, telephone number and test date.  

If you participate in one or more of the high-risk activities identified by the CDC, including those listed below, please advise your immediate supervisor and provide documentation of said event.
  • Flights (domestic or international) with layovers; 
  • Travel on a cruise or river boat; 
  • Travel from a country or U.S. territory with a Level 2, Level 3 or Level 4 Travel Health Notice; OR
  • Travel from a county or U.S. territory with a Level 1 Travel Health Notice, AND
  • Attend a large social gathering, like a wedding or funeral;
  • Attend a mass gathering, like a sporting event or concert; or
  • Take public transportation, like trains or buses, or spend time in public transportation hubs, like airports.
