convocation welcomes new students and celebrates public service
Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine's Convocation welcomes new students to the osteopathic profession and the Heritage College community. This year's convocation on August 15 was no different. With 250 new students from the Athens, Cleveland and Dublin campuses, there was a palpable excitement to the event.

Ted Wymyslo, MD, chief medical officer of the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers and a former director of the Ohio Department of Health, keynoted the event and was awarded the Phillips Medal of Public Service, the highest honor bestowed by the Heritage College.

Incoming students were invested with a short white coat, indicative of their status as physicians in training. After leaving the stage, students were presented with a stethoscope bearing the Heritage College insignia, made possible thanks to generous donors to The Stethoscope Fund. Students beamed with pride and gratitude.
