Good Luck to our 8th Grade Students
Greetings from Mr. Gault

Saturday, 26 October eighth grade students throughout the diocese of Rockville Center sat for the Catholic High School Entrance Exam (CHSEE). Students from The De La Salle School also participated and eagerly wait for January to see what schools they have been accepted to. Please continue to pray for our young men that they are able to continue their Catholic Education in one of our local Catholic High Schools. I am confident that they will be as successful as the class of 2019, all of whom were accepted to the Catholic High School of their choice. Our ministry to these young men does not end with their graduation from The De La Salle school. Our Graduate Support program will provide them the opportunity for college visits, mentoring, tutoring, socialization and some financial assistance. There are currently 58 alumni attending high school. All 58 were accepted to a Catholic High School, and 49 are currently attending a Catholic high school of his choice and receiving financial assistance through our graduate support program..   Nine are attending local public schools. We are blessed to have 191 young men who have graduated from The De la Salle School beginning with the first graduating class in 2006.

During 2019, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and the Lasallian Family will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the death of our founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Patron Saint of Teachers. The Institute has designated 2019 as the Year of Lasallian Vocations. Pope Francis has declared 2019 a Jubilee Year in honor of the 300th anniversary of the death of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. The Jubilee Year which began on 15 November 2018, will conclude on 31 December 2019. During the month of November The De La Salle School will participate with our Lasallian colleagues from the District of Eastern North America celebrating this milestone.

The National Council of Catholic Bishops has designated the week of 3-9 November as National Vocation Awareness Week. In celebration of the Year of Lasallian Vocations, during this week, we will invite our students to consider their personal vocation and ask them to be open to the possibility of a vocation with the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Please join us in praying that those entrusted to our care, consider service to God and His people as a consecrated religious. For information about the Brothers of the Christian Schools visit www.BrothersVocation.org or contact the district vocation director Brother Michael Andrejko, FSC at (571-253-6160) or andrejko@fscdena.org
