Worship with us this Sunday!
Worship with us at 10am on Facebook Live or on YouTube anytime after it’s posted there in the early afternoon. Our scripture passages are Isaiah 6:1-8 (Here am I; Send Me!) and Psalm 29 (Our God of strength, power and voice gives us strength, power and voice). We will continue to feel the movements of the Holy Spirit from last Sunday – PENTECOST! We will sing a new song to PUCC -- Spirit, I Have Heard You Calling by Thew Elliot.

*Please tune in with a little bit of oil - olive, vegetable, sesame, grapeseed or something else – as we will invite you to participate in a simple ritual of anointing.
Livestream worship on designated Sundays. Look under videos for previous livestreamed services.

Ponder
Inspiration in this season of Pentecost:

May your tongue tingle with the good news.
May your heart open
to all the people of the street.
And, when you are bent over by sorrow,
may you find the Spirit’s feather on the ground
waiting there to give you hope.
Amen

A minute and a half about Memorial Day – origins and practices.
Humor
A few jokes for Memorial Day Weekend – often the time people attend their first BBQ of the summer…

Alex's first day in heaven:
God: You're about to get your wings!
Alex: Lemon pepper or BBQ ?
God: Get out.

I get a mouth-watering sensation when I’m grilling a steak on the BBQ.
I wonder if vegans get that same feeling when they mow the lawn.

What’s a librarian’s favorite thing to bring to a BBQ?
A shush kebab.

Prayer for San Jose
May 27, 2021 by Maren

Surround, O God, with light –

those who grieve their losses
at the Light Rail Yards in San Jose,
those who had no chance
to save good-bye,
those who will not
have them as neighbors, mentors,
grandparents, friends,
those whose arms are empty.

Surround, O God, with light –

those who will be afraid once again
to take public transportation,
to go to work,
to shop at the grocery store,
to live normal lives,
even to sleep at night.

Surround, O God, with light –

those who work
to take the guns away
and spare us all
the terrible grief and fear. amen
