Thank you to everyone for getting your t-shirt and name tags information to me so quickly. I allowed the two classes to weigh in on the colors for our t-shirts next year via Group Me (if you don't have GroupMe - get it as I use it to communicate with you sometimes). The results are:

Class of 2021 - Baby Blue
Class of 2022 - Vintage Black

Thanks so much for helping me decide on these colors - I think they'll look great!

COVID-19 VOLUNTEER WORK - HELPING FRONT LINE WORKERS
From SLJC graduate 2020 Class David Hsi:
I wanted to give you a quick update on what I have been doing to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic. My parents started a Facebook page, “Atlanta Asian Community Acts of Kindness,” with the goal of raising awareness about the acts of goodwill that the Asian community has done in response to the virus and to promote unity within the community during this global crisis.
Deciding to be a part of this organization and cause, a couple of
friends and I started our own GoFundMe fundraiser with the goal of raising
money to buy meals for frontline workers in hospitals who risk their lives
fighting this virus. Within two days, we have managed to raise almost $1100 in
donations! In fact, this Friday, we are going to be donating pizzas to the ICU
unit at the Emory Johns Creek Hospital. We hope to gather even more support and
donations, so we can expand our impact. This is a cause I strongly believe in,
and it would be greatly appreciated if you could spread the word about this
Facebook page and our GoFundMe page, knowing that you have a strong voice in
the community!

My friend created a flyer for
the Facebook page to share around (attached) and the link to Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/pg/Atlanta-Asian-Community-Acts-of-Kindness-Against-Covid-19-101278778189616/posts/?ref=page_internal
City of Hope Fundraiser
From SLJC Class of 2021 member Janice Nam:

For 4 years, I’ve been volunteering at City Hope, a church-based non-profit that serves refugee families in Clarkston, GA. Normally, I tutor refugee kids every Saturday, but I haven’t been able to due to COVID-19.

Also because of COVID-19, many refugee parents have been laid off of their jobs and are now struggling to make ends meet. City Hope has been providing basic necessities like rice, flour, paper towels, etc. to ease their financial burden.

To help City Hope and the refugee families living in Georgia, I’ve created a gofundme account to raise money. All funds go directly to City Hope, which will go directly to the refugee families and the City Hope ministry. Donations are also tax deductible!

If there’s one thing that I learned from SLJC, it is that being a leader means serving the people. I want to serve my neighbors in Clarkston and help them through this strange, hard time. If you wouldn’t mind sharing my gofundme and possibly donating, I would be extremely appreciative. There is more information about the fundraiser at this link:
