A Message from the Principal...

|
Dear St. Louis Families,
Today we joyously celebrate the Memorial of St. Cecilia, patron saint of music and musicians, her saintly life is a beautiful example of faith and love. It was very fitting that the students lifted up their voices in song this morning during Mass--a truly special way to end our week of instruction! Students have been busy this week, and we were blessed to have some extra hands in classrooms from Bishop Ireton students - quite a few of our graduates joined us Tuesday and Wednesday as part of their service project. It was wonderful to see familiar faces back in our classrooms helping students solve word problems in Math, listening to our primary grades read books, helping Mrs. Krut in the library, or prepping materials for upcoming Advent projects!
This week our diocese celebrated
Discover Catholic Schools Week
; we had two very successful Open Houses where we were able to connect with several prospective families, many of whom submitted applications for next year. Our next Open House for prospective families will be during Catholic Schools Week. Additionally, this week we introduced two community service initiatives to our students:
#GivingTuesdayKids
is all about spreading the culture of generosity in our school community with other children all over our country. From now until December 6th, students may donate any of their pre-loved LEGO bricks - there is no limit to what they can give, and the LEGOs do not need to be in complete sets. Students may bring in 5, 10, 15, or 100 LEGO bricks which we will happily box up and send to LEGO Replay who will then share them with other children through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. In a small way our students will be sharing the gift of play with others. The other service project is our annual Pajama Drive in support of local families in need. Pajama donations can be dropped off in the box located at the school office. Both of these service projects are acts of kindness that we hope will foster the spirit of generosity amongst the students.
Know that in this month of gratitude, I am indeed grateful for the joy and laughter that permeate our school hallways daily!
Have a blessed weekend!
Peace,
Anne M. Dyke
