A Correction from Larry Movshin, Board Chairman

No matter how well intended a letter may be, sometimes it creates confusion and unintended concerns. That's clearly the case with one sentence in this morning's
letter
.
I simply wanted to remind our dog owners that the Town imposes leash restrictions during certain times of the year. And I hoped they would recognize the importance of those laws while we are all trying to "social distance" from one another. But I added a sentence - and then even underlined it -- which reads "
please leash your dog at all times you are on our Sea Pines beaches."
Let me make clear - CSA is NOT imposing restrictions beyond those already imposed in the Town's regulations, and to the extent my last sentence suggested that, I was wrong. And to avoid any confusion I might create by paraphrasing the regulations, here it is:
“Animals.
Except as provided herein, no person shall bring or allow any dog, or any other animal on the beach that is not at all times on a leash between the hours of 10:00 a.m and 5:00 p.m. from April 1st through the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend and from the Tuesday after Labor Day weekend through September 30th. No person shall bring or allow any dog, or any other animal, on the beach between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from the Friday before Memorial Day weekend through the Monday of Labor Day weekend. No person shall bring or allow any dog or any other animal on the beach that is not on a leash or under positive voice control of the responsible person between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. from April 1st through September 30th. No person shall bring or allow any dog or any other animal on the beach that is not on a leash or under positive voice control at any hour from October 1st through March 31st. Any violation of the provisions hereof may result in the owner of the animal being charged with a misdemeanor and the animal being seized by the appropriate animal control officer or law enforcement officer.”
Thanks again to those property owners who took the time to bring this issue to my attention so that I could clear up this mistake.
