Greetings from the Center for Irish Music,
As a CIM supporter, you know that the Center for Irish Music is at the heart of the Twin Cities’ vibrant Irish cultural scene. We are inspired by your support and wish to share this year’s success with you as we work together in
handing down the tradition
with joy, enthusiasm and integrity.
Did you know that 30% of the music school's operating funds come from tax-deductible donations and grants?
In 2018-19, your support made it possible for the Center for Irish Music to:
- Reach 347 individual students with year-round private lessons, group classes and Minnesota Irish Music Weekend, while creating meaningful work for 22 local teaching artists.
- Put hard-to-find Irish instruments such as uilleann pipes, harps and accordions in the hands of 29 students through our affordable in-house instrument rental program.
- Provide more than $5,000 in financial aid, expanding access to CIM’s programs for all students.
- Share the joy of playing together with 9 CIM ensemble groups, bringing Irish music into the community with 55 performances that reached more than 10,000 people.
- Support the Celtic Junction Arts Center by being a reliable, long term tenant with a shared vision for a vibrant Irish arts scene in Minnesota.
We hope you choose to support CIM again this year as we celebrate Give to the Max Day, the kick-off to our annual fall drive. Thanks to our generous supporters, our
Challenge Fund is at $1,000 and growing

Late-Start Fall Class: Irish Poetry in Translation
|
|
|
Tuesdays from 8-9pm | Dec. 3 - Jan. 14 | $80
Poetry has always been central to Irish culture, from the earliest surviving examples—dating from as early as the 6th century—to today. The focus of this series of classes will be Irish language poetry from the 16th century up to now. The group will read and discuss a variety of wonderful examples of our rich tradition in translation, and Dáithí looks forward to students bringing their own particular interests and loves to the conversation.
