MESSAGE
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Alumni & Friends of St. Francis,

It is hard to believe that 2022 is here and there are only three months left of this school year. It is also hard to believe that we are two years since the start of this pandemic. There are times in which things feel as if we are running in place, while others, we have run a few full marathons in a matter of minutes. Nonetheless, we keep moving on, individually and as a collectively.

The start of 2022 has definitely brought on a few more challenges with the newest variant, but thanks to everyone in our community, we have been able to forge ahead and continue to take care of one another. And with all that, we are in the middle of admissions season for 2022-2023, and our eighth graders are awaiting their high school decisions. Such an exciting time.

Next month, March, we are holding our annual auction and gala. Like last year, we will be hosting the event virtually for obvious reasons. But unlike 2021, our event will stream live from our own gym along with the ability for anyone to come by the school courtyard prior to the event to see all the auction items and even bid on the silent portion. We hope that many of you can attend one way or another. Here is a little portion of my auction letter:

St. Francis of Assisi was a firm believer in dreams and the hopes of tomorrow. This was his mission, a mission that was predicated on the idea that “The journey is essential to the dream.” His life’s journey was built upon his belief in God, community, inclusivity, love, and ministry to others. His dream was for a place in which we love and care for one another, no matter who we are or where any of us come from. Since 1895, St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School has continued this tradition… a tradition in which love of others and work for the greater good is our journey and our dream…
For over 125 years, St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School has been the journey for so many. Let us continue to embrace the words and spirit of our patron saint. The future of our school is a testament to the collective commitment of this community. Together we will ensure that our Franciscan, Catholic education continues to be the dream for our children and families for generations to come.

You have been such an important and vibrant part of this journey. No matter when or in what capacity you graced these halls, you have left an indelible mark and helped make the gift of this dream a reality!

May St. Francis and St. Clare continue to walk this journey with us!

Our school were fortunate enough to hold our Christmas Pageant this year with a twist. Unsafe to hold indoors, our performing arts teacher Mrs Pressburg-Nevans took the pageant outdoors in a walk thru event. Students from every grade designed and painted backdrops that represented each part of the Nativity. 8th graders helped sew costumes and re-enacted each of the scenes. Each scene was accompanied by pre-recorded narration from students from each grade. It was a huge success!
