“Many things, great and good start with a dream. Dreams provide us not only with rest and revitalization, but with ideas, hope and even our destiny. But dreams are not enough. It takes hard work, careful planning, generosity and sacrifice to bring a dream to fruition.”
Bill Reinhart shared these poignant words during the 2014 blessing and dedication of the Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House. Bill was both honoring the sacrifices of the good sisters of Bon Secours and acknowledging his father’s unwavering commitment to family, friends and community. Bud Reinhart passed away on September 3, 2020, at the age of 92, at his home at Westminster Canterbury in Richmond, in the company of his children.
Bud may have been very quiet about his philanthropy, but he was also very focused and proud to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Since opening our doors in June 2014, the Guest House has served more than 8,800 families in need. Bud was so smart about his giving: he trusted the organizations he supported while also ensuring that the organizations were committed to sustainability and stewardship. Bud lived a meaningful life, and his legacy of philanthropy will live on in the Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House.
