San Mateo County Issues New Coronavirus
Health Advisory
San Mateo County Health issued a new health advisory Wednesday with recommendations to limit the surge of COVID-19 cases.

Health officials are emphasizing three core practices and the science behind them that everyone should follow:

  • Always wear a mask in public, particularly when talking.

  • Insulate your household and any small, stable "Social Support Bubble" from the virus

  • Mask – Isolate – Quarantine – Test. Immediately for any symptoms, or after exposure.

Anyone developing symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 should IMMEDIATELY isolate themselves, mask all household members, quarantine household contacts then get tested. Individuals should also contact their personal health care provider, who can help individuals interpret the test, and decide if further isolation and quarantine are necessary.

Residents without a health care provider should call 211 to be connected to San Mateo County's system of support.

Governor Newsom Launches “Vaccinate All 58” Campaign as First Vaccines Arrive in California
As the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrive in California, Governor Gavin Newsom today launched “Vaccinate All 58”, California’s campaign for a safe, fair, and equitable vaccine for all 58 counties in the state. The Governor joined Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, one of the first locations in the state to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, as first doses were administered. Across California, vaccines will be administered in phases by prioritizing groups according to risk and level of exposure. Initial doses will go to California’s essential health care workers and those among our most vulnerable in long-term care settings.

To review the COVID-19 vaccine for safety and efficacy, California formed a Scientific Safety Review Workgroup. Joined by Washington, Oregon, and Nevada, the Workgroup is comprised of nationally acclaimed immunization and public health experts. The Workgroup worked concurrently and independently to review the FDA’s actions related to COVID-19 vaccinations. This past Sunday, the Workgroup confirmed the Pfizer vaccine is safe for public use. They will continue to evaluate other COVID-19 vaccines following federal review processes.

Get COVID-19 Exposure Notifications on Your Phone with 'CA Notify'
Governor Gavin Newsom announced the statewide launch of CA Notify, a new digital tool that will help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Starting Thursday, December 10, Californians can opt-in to receive COVID-19 notifications informing them if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for the virus. CA Notify is a digital tool that protects privacy and security – it does not collect device location to detect exposure and does not share a user’s identity.

How does it work?
CA Notify uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to exchange random codes with the phones of others who have opted in without revealing any information about the users. If another CA Notify user you've been near in the last two weeks tests positive for COVID-19 and adds their unique, anonymous verification code to the app, you’ll get an anonymous notification that you have potentially been exposed. You will be referred to COVID-19 resources so you can quickly get the testing and care you need to prevent exposing others in your community.

COVID-19 Town Hall this Thursday
The COVID-19 pandemic is escalating dangerously in our community and across California. In response, a series of new public health orders at the state and county levels have been issued.

Join Assemblymember Marc Berman and special guest Dr. Yvonne Maldonado for a virtual COVID-19 Town Hall to learn more about how the state's Regional Stay-At-Home Order impacts the 24th Assembly District. and about the recent developments in vaccines and what we can expect over the coming months. Dr. Maldonado is a member of the Governor’s Vaccine Scientific Safety Review Workgroup and will provide updates on the COVID-19 vaccines, including safety and distribution plans for our community.

Questions that we’ll cover will include:
  • How does the new statewide stay-at-home order impact me, and for how long?
  • What is the status of the vaccines?
  • Are the vaccines safe?
  • When can my family and I get the vaccine?
  • How can I stay safe this winter?
