Focusing on Safety & Health
In an effort to maintain a safe environment for our students and staff in light of COVID-19, we are asking for help from our parents with the following items as we start the school year:
  • If your student is not feeling well, please do not send them to school.
  • Please limit the need for your student to check-in/check-out during the day by scheduling all appointments for after-school hours.
  • Please do not bring items your student left at home to the office. Remind students to make sure they have the correct items for their classes that morning before they leave (or maybe the night before). This will take some getting used to with the alternating block schedule.
  • Please do not bring food to the office for your student. All students have access to free lunch at LHS if they forget their lunch at home.
  • Please make sure your student is off campus by 2:30 each afternoon. Students should go home by bus, car, or walking for those who live nearby. There are no after-school rehearsals/meetings at Harrison scheduled for at least the first four weeks of school. Students should not be waiting around on campus for a ride past 2:30. (There will be no late-shuttle buses to start the school year.)

Info for eSchool Students
Harrison eSchool students will need to attend virtual classes through the program Schoology, which is located in each student’s ClassLink account. Students can access a link to log into their ClassLink on the Harrison website under 'Links’. eSchool students will receive more information from their assigned teachers, but they will need to attend each class at the same time the class is scheduled at school. The expectations for eSchool students are the same as on campus - all students should attend class daily, participate in class, and keep up with assignments. Dress code is also important when attending virtually, as students should be dressed as though they are attending class. Although we are attending school in different ways, we want all students to be successful!

We will be having a drive-thru laptop distribution for eSchool students who requested a laptop between 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20. Please plan on remaining in your car to receive your laptop outside of the Harrison Theatre. Please be prepared to show photo ID for either the student or the parent.
Not sure if your name is on the list to check out a school laptop? Please email Mrs. Leland at lisa.leland@polk-fl.net to check.
20-21 Orientation
Harrison's back-to-school orientation will take place on Thursday, August 20 in a virtual format. Our orientation will consist of two parts, a general school orientation video and separate department specific virtual meetings utilizing video conferencing software. The link to the general school orientation video will be posted to the school website on Thursday and the video will premiere that evening. If you are unable to watch Thursday evening, you will be able to watch afterwards at your convenience. Details and links for the department specific meetings will also be sent out by the department teachers. These department meetings will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. Please watch your email for info from your department teacher on how to logon.

Bus Assignments
Bus assignments for students who requested a bus for this school year are now viewable in Parent Portal. To see the bus assignment, please click on your student, then click "Child Info," and then click the tab that says "Transportation." If your student has a transfer bus. you will receive an email by Friday from Mrs. Punausuia with the details of the transfers as this does not show in the Portal. If you have a question about a bus assignment, please contact Mrs. Punausuia by email at kimberly.punausuia@polk-fl.net.
Parking Permits
Seniors who will be attending school on campus and are in the Top 40 GPA may purchase parking permits beginning August 26. Permits are $20 and students who are interested should email Mrs. Leland at lisa.leland@polk-fl.net next week to verify if they are eligible. All other students who need parking permits will be able to purchase them through Lakeland High School.
Student Schedules
Our counselors have been working extremely hard to get all of our students scheduled for next week. Please be patient with them as they work through this process. Also, be aware that the priority for scheduling is placing our students in the classes they need for graduation. The addition of eSchool specific classes has further complicated the already difficult process of scheduling and some students may have to choose alternative classes depending on availability. The counselors are reaching out to those students specifically. Students will be able to view their schedules in the Student/Parent Portal by Thursday.
Harrison Parents' Association
Harrison could not be as successful as we are without the support of our amazing parents' association! Our first HPA meeting of the year will take place virtually on August 25 at 7:30 p.m. To sign-up to attend the meeting, please click here.

We would love for all of our parents to join the HPA as members. There are three different membership levels available. If you would like to join by check, please click here to access the form and mail it in to the school. If you would like to join using your credit card, you can click here to access the online membership form.
Harrison Remind Accounts
We utilize Remind to help connect with students throughout the year. Remind accounts are assigned based on the student's grade level and school counselor. To sign-up, text 81010 with the correct code below.
