The ECA is transitioning to a new website after May 31, 2019!  We look forward as we finalize the update(s) to our web content.  The monthly LiveWire e-newletter will continue; however, in a revised format.

The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Research and Education Committee recently sponsored t he " How to Compete in Large Cities and Win Back Markets Seminar " that was held May 22, 2019 at the Drake Oak Brook Hotel, Oak Brook, Illinois.

ECA Young Professionals 
The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Young Professionals (YP) Committee held a special YP networking session with an education component concerning "3D Laser Scanning in Pre-Construction." The event was held the evening of Tuesday, May 14, 2019 and was well attended.  The program featured Mr. Nick Dionne, Field Technology Account Executive of the Northern Illinois region for BuildingPoint.  He is also a Trimble Certified Instructor.  Mr. Dionne's presentation was highlighted by discussion of use of 3D laser scanning technology and its wide array of applications, including Building Information Modeling (BIM), Virtual Design Construction (VDC), Pre-Construction as-builts, Quality Control during construction comparing design intent to as-built conditions, among other areas.  We thank Mr. Dionne for his time at the event.  Future networking events are being planned for the rest of 2019!

NECA Programming Updates / NEBF Update

2019 NECA Convention & Trade Show

The 2019 NECA Convention & Trade Show will be held September 14 - 17, 2019 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Registration opened May 16, 2019.  We hope to see you, there!  Please visit:  www.necaconvention.org to register. 

Executive Committee Stipend:
The ECA Executive Committee recently approved a stipend for the NECA Convention & Trade Show.  The Registration Fee for an ECA member and Spouse / Guest will be paid for up to two ECA Members from each ECA participating member firm.  Reimbursement(s) to the firm(s) will be made after the Convention.

Safety Update

eSafetyLine Member Benefit Activiation
 
The ECA Executive Committee has recently approved one complimentary eSafetyLine subscription for each interested member firm! Please register your firm, as soon as possible! The ECA is compiling a list for e-SafetyLine; the member firms will then be sent activation information. Again, please review the e-mail and send us the completed Registration Form.

The eSafetyLine subscription provides access to a wealth of NECA safety resources which include:

- NECA Safety Manual
The Safety Manual is continuously updated to address changes in OSHA's regulations and enforcement policies as well as the changing requirements established by many third party assessment services.

- eSafetyLine Recordkeeping
The eSafetyLIne Recordkeeping System records and reports on occupational injuries and illnesses, training, and safety related events and actions. New reports will be added to assist users in complying with the OSHA's recordkeeping requirements.

- NECA Safety Archive
The NECA Safety Archive provides subscribers with access to the latest editions of NECA's safety publications in digital format including updated 70e guides, supporting materials, and training. This and other content can be easily accessed through a searchable online database.

CISCO Annual Meeting

The Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) held its 31st Annual Luncheon on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Maggiano's Banquets in Schaumburg, Illinois.  Governor JB Pritzker was a feature speaker.

The March of Dimes 25th Annual Construction & Transportation Awards Luncheon was held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel.  ECA member, Kendra Dinkins, Taylor Electric Company was the 2019 Construction & Transportation Awards Chair!
