What should I tell the school?
It is important to let the school nurse or your student's teacher know if your child has the flu, pneumonia, bronchitis or other contagious illnesses.

How long should I stay home if I’m sick?
CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or other necessities. Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine, such as Tylenol®. You should stay home from work, school, travel, shopping, social events, and public gatherings.

Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.
Try to avoid close contact with people that are ill. If you are sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting others. After your fever is gone, stay home at least one day, without the use of fever reducing medications...Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.

What are typical flu symptoms?
Flu symptoms include, fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people may have diarrhea and vomiting.
