Principal's Message
Gwinnett County Public Schools will observe fall break on Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9 followed by a student holiday on Monday, October 12. Teachers will not be available for instruction or help with course content during this break. As always, students will have access to their courses 24/7 and can work ahead if desired.

Grades 8, 10 & 11: PSAT & PSAT/NMSQT
Students in grades 8 & 10 plus pre-registered students in 11th grade will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 14 from 8 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

Students are required to bring a photo ID, calculator, pencils and a facemask.

Grades 9-12: Advanced Placement Exam Registration
This section is intended for GOC High School students enrolled in Advanced Placement classes for the 2020-21 school year. Please click HERE to learn more about AP Exam details and registration.

The registration window is now open through Sunday, November 8.

Grades 4-12: Accessing Students Grades
We are working closely with the district to ensure that student's GOC grades are visible in the student portal. In the meantime, have your child follow the steps below to view your student's course progress. Using this method, you will be able to view each grade as well as important feedback from your child's teacher. You may also click on the helpful video below.

  2. Select a course
  3. Select "Grading" and then "Grades"
Grades 4-12: Back to School Bingo
We are excited for Back to School Bingo tomorrow from 10-11:30 a.m. Doors will open promptly at 9:45 a.m.

Due to social distancing protocol, we are limiting this event to students ONLY. For those students joining us face to face, masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be in effect.

In order to participate in this event on campus, your name MUST be on the RSVP list. No drop offs will be permitted without a prior RSVP.

Students must be picked up from this event no later than 11:45 a.m.

Grades 4-12: Peer Mentoring Program Meeting
All students involved in the Peer Mentoring Program should plan to join us virtually on Tuesday, October 6 from 2-3 p.m. Please click HERE to access the Adobe Connect participation meeting link.

Students who are involved in the program or who wish to be a part of the program should complete the Peer Mentoring Program Survey to help us better plan for the meeting. (Students must be logged into their school email account to complete the survey)
Grades 4-12: Virtual SLT Meetings
October Student Leadership Team (SLT) virtual meetings will be held according to the schedule listed below. All meetings will be held virtually after Core and Learning Labs from 2-3 p.m.

Grades 4-12: GOC Talent Show Auditions
GOC's 8th Annual Talent show will be a pre-recorded event this year.

Auditions for the Talent Show are scheduled for Friday, October 16. We are looking for all kinds of talent to include: singing, dancing, comedians, acting, magicians, etc.

Grades 6-12: International Thespian Society
The International Thespian Society is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. GOC student members are eligible to participate in state-wide and regional theatre events including Thescon and Dramarama.
 
For new and returning students interested in joining for the 2020-21 school year, please click HERE to complete the application and then visit your MyPaymentsPlus account to pay either the $40 annual ITS Membership Fee (grades 9-12) or the $20 annual JTS Membership Fee (grades 6-8).

If you are a previous ITS (grades 9-12) or JTS (grades 6-8) member you may request to be considered for an officer position.

Grades 6-12: Thescon/Dramarama Workshops
Calling all theatre students in grades 6-12 who are interested in participating in Thescon or Dramarama Workshops!

Students interested in participating in the group performance for Thescon or Dramarama should submit a one minute video audition to Dr. Gregory Pritchard as soon as possible. Prepare a one minute selection from Newsies or a piece of your choice. At the end of the audition please indicate if you have any special talents or skills such as dance, gymnastics, etc.

There will be a variety of rehearsals both virtually and face to face with masks required and social distancing guidelines strictly enforced.

Grades 4-12: GOC Spirit Fan Photo Cutouts
Show your GOC Spirit this year by purchasing your own Fan Cutout!!

Parents and students may purchase a cutout of themselves from the waist up to be used for events such as the virtual talent show, other school productions throughout the year as well as displayed around campus.

Please login to your students MyPaymentsPlus account to pay the $20 fee by the October 14 deadline. After completing your purchase, email a high-resolution photo for each person from the waist up to Ms. Jeanette Schiffmann. To ensure a good and clear quality fan cutout, no pictures of pictures, no far away photos and no big photos are permitted.

We can't wait to "see" you showing your school spirit all over campus!
Grades 4-12: Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving competition where students work together to create a solution. To learn more about this program please click HERE.

Grades 4-12: School Spirit - GOC Face Masks
Stay safe and show your school spirit by sporting a customized GOC face mask.

Students may purchase a GOC face mask for $5 by visiting their MyPaymentsPlus account. Once payment has been made, students will be required to submit their receipt to the front office. Once payment is finalized (in some instances payment may take up to 7 business days to clear) the student will be issued their mask.

Face masks will also be available for cash or credit card purchase in the Owls Nest Cafe' in early to mid October.
