The Program in Jewish Studies has created a blog to keep up engagement between students, faculty, and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Check out the

Alicia Sasser Modestino, Associate Professor of Economics, is working closely with the City of Boston to help forecast unemployment and the number of people who will file unemployment insurance claims. Dr. Modestino's contributions is helping determine how much additional staff is need to process all the claims and will help newly eligible workers (e.g., gig workers and self-employed) under the CARES Act process through the system.

Shalanda Baker Professor of Law, Public Policy, and Urban Affairs,
is spotlighted on CSSH's webpage for her community-engaged scholarly work and mentorship with students across the university.

Achievements and Awards 

Megan Denver, Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice ,
won the 2019 Outstanding Young Experimental Criminologist Award by the 

Martin Blatt, Professor of the practice in History and Director of the Public History Program, 
h as been awarded the 2020 NCPH Robert Kelley Memorial Award

Silvia Prina, Associate Professor of Economics, recently published her article, "Do Health Risk Assessments Change Eating Habits at the Workplace?" in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.

PhD students of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, leke de Vries, Emma Fridel, and Stuti Kokkalera all successfully defended their dissertations through a virtual platform. All three students have secured teaching positions after graduation. Ieke and Emma will both be working at Florida State University as Assistant Professors and Stuti will be working at Sam Houston State in Texas as an Assistant Professor.

Professors of the Practice in Criminology and Criminal Justice School, Jack McDevitt, director, and Carlos Cuevas received a $100,000 grant to develop a Hate Crime Resource Center for all the Elementary, Middle and High Schools in Massachusetts. The project team also includes researchers from American University and the Anti-Defamation League of New England.
