As recommended by the FDA
-
Snacking: Children shouldn’t snack on treats from their goody bags while they’re out trick-or-treating. Give them a light meal or snack before they head out – don’t send them out on an empty stomach. Urge them to wait until they get home and let you inspect their loot before they eat any of it.
-
Inspect Wrappers: Ensure commercial candy wrappers are intact and unaltered.
-
Safe treats: Tell children not to accept – and especially not to eat – anything that isn’t commercially wrapped. Inspect commercially wrapped treats for signs of tampering, such as an unusual appearance or discoloration, tiny pinholes, or tears in wrappers. Throw away anything that looks suspicious.
-
Food Allergies: If your child has a food allergy, check the label to ensure the allergen isn’t present. Do not allow the child to eat any home-baked goods he or she may have received.
-
Choking hazards: If you have very young children, be sure to remove any choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candies or small toys.

Public Works Continues Progress on 2021 Projects
|
|
The Town of Bennett Public Works Department entered the year with a long list of priority projects and the overall goal of continuing to keep Bennett a safe and healthy community.
Trail improvements throughout Town have been an important project for staff. In the Bennett Regional Park and Open Space (BRPOS), an additional 4.2 miles of trails is expected to be completed by the end of October. The Kiowa Bennett trail extension is currently in the design phase and significant improvements have been made on the Highway 79 trail, including landscaping and the installation of additional dog stations. Solar light designs and planning for addition benches for the Highway 79 trail continue as well.
The Upper Pond repurposing at BRPOS is currently 90% compete and the Lower Fishing Pond design and drawings are complete. Construction on the Upper Pond Project included filling and grading, connection of water pipes to the pond and refreshing existing trail materials.
The Bennett Community Center has been significantly enhanced with renovations to the interior and exterior, including the installation of lights in the parking lot.
In September, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of purple pipe for the purple pie beltway that will deliver reclaimed water at key Town parks for irrigation use. Engineering for the beltway is currently in process.
Throughout the work being completed on these projects, Public Works has continued maintenance on Town parks and grounds, streets and buildings and water and wastewater.
Moving toward the end of the year, staff will be working on winterizing the Town’s irrigation systems, removing dead trees, installing holiday lights and banners, hydrant painting and repairs, sewer jetting, meter replacements, backflow testing, crack sealing roads, repairing potholes and more.
