APL STEM Academy's aim is to prepare students to be part of the 21st-century workforce. Taught by APL STEM Professionals, APL STEM Academy aims to:

Identify and develop STEM talent
Increase the diversity of students pursuing STEM majors and careers
Connect concepts taught in school to real-world application
Build students' skills, understanding, knowledge, and competence in STEM fields
Create a path toward a future career in STEM

APL STEM Academy is for students in 8th - 12th grade.

Since 1976, Maryland MESA has been providing STEM experiences through school-based programs. Now your child can participate in MD MESA even if MESA is not offered at your child's school! The MD MESA Online Program uses project-based challenges to teach children in grades 3-12 the fundamentals of engineering and computer science. MD MESA provides the opportunity for anyone to form their own home or community-based MESA team. MD MESA Online teams hold regular meetings to work on the MESA challenge and submit their final products electronically for scoring.

Maryland Science Olympiad is an exciting after school program with STEM tournaments! You pick or do all from a variety of life, earth, space, physical science and engineering activities. You must be registered to attend the Coaches Clinic PD on October 5th. 

STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools (SABES) is hiring afterschool teachers to work with students in grades 3-5 doing hands-on STEM activities at various Baltimore City schools. Successful candidate will be able to pass a criminal background check, have reliable transportation, and be excited and energized to work with our youth.  

It's back! Year two of FREE teacher-centered hands-on workshops for educators who want to grow their maker muscles! Each month we explore approaches to making with affordable and durable student-ready tools, materials, and creative technologies -- think of it as happy hour + PD that doesn't suck. Learn how you and your students can transform the quality, scope and depth of 3D design projects, and use tested tools and materials from our workshops.

Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) will be hosting a professional enrichment workshop for teachers called Bite of Science. Bite of Science brings together middle and high school STEM teachers with two scientists or engineers who to talk about their research/work over an informal dinner. This unique opportunity is designed to improve teachers' ability to provide students a context of how science is applied in the real world and to pique student interest in STEM careers in the region.  Session speakers talk for ~35 minutes about their career path and their research; show a demonstration, hands-on activity, model, video, or simulation; highlight the job skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the field; and share any outreach opportunities that may be available for teachers and/or their students through the company or university.
