FRF expands Meals for Heroes
.....Due to the overwhelming support we received for
Meals for Heroes for the
UMMC ER staff, we have now expanded the program to include other medical facilities in Fondren.
.....Last week, more than 60 individuals and entities donated more than $10,000 to provide meals to
UMMC
ER staffers who were responding to the pandemic. We have now scheduled 3 meals per week for them through May 15. This expanded program will offer meals to St. Dominic's, and other medical facilities which express a need.
.....The following Fondren restaurants are preparing meals at cost: The
Pig and Pint,
Barrelhouse,
Broad Street Bakery,
The Hungry Goat,
Saltine,
Corner Market,
Basil and
Walker's Drive In. (Other Fondren restaurants can participate by
contacting FRF.)
.....The cost for one meal for 50 people is $600. You can donate any amount or pay for one entire meal.
.....The
FRF Coronavirus Task Force will be responsible for preparing a schedule for meal delivery to the various facilities. You will be able to track their work through this newsletter. (See side bar to the right, which will be updated weekly as funds are contributed)
.....We also need volunteers to pick up and deliver the meals. If you are available to be considered for meal delivery,
let us know. A mid-size vehicle is needed, at a minimum. Delivery times will vary and we will match volunteers to the tasks at hand.

Ring Those Bells Monday night
.....
Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann
has asked churches to ring their bells for 1 minute at 6 p.m. every day beginning today through Monday, April 20.
.....
He also suggested that all
Mississippians
could join in by ringing bells from their front porches.
.....
"W
e are asking all of our houses of worship across the State to ring their church bells for one minute in recognition of our healthcare workers on the front lines, in prayer for those who are sick, and in an attempt to unify Mississippians in sound and spirit,"
Hosemann
said. "We are also asking each citizen and their families to go to their front yard and ring their bells at the same time. We may not be able to physically be with our friends and neighbors, but our sound can convey our support for one another."

Rooster’s will be closed until further notice. In this time of emergency, let’s not base our decisions in fear, but in its stead, let’s react with reason. And the reasonable choice is to shut our doors temporarily. Our gut reaction - our purpose - is to serve food that comforts you, and we and our staff are saddened that we can no longer fulfill this purpose. We are devastated that we can no longer serve our public that has shown us love and gratitude for the past 35 years. But alas, this will be short lived, and we look forward to being a part of this diverse, loving community in the future. We can’t wait to spend the next 35 years with y’all!

We plan to re-open as soon as it’s safe and want to offer our loyal customers and friends a spot in our opening night, whenever it may be! We are offering one spot per $100 or more donation! ($200+ for two spots, $300+ for three spots, ect.) ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of your donation will be divided and given to the staff as some much needed relief through this impossible situation. As some of you know very well, the staff and customers end up becoming a family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support throughout the years. We take comfort in knowing that this will pass and we can go right back to loving y’all the best way we know how — through FOOD. We look forward to serving you soon
