Over the next few months, the Sacramento Continuum of Care will be working in partnership with the City and County of Sacramento to develop a Local Homelessness Action Plan with measurable outcome goals to help guide the homeless response system. A required element of the upcoming Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention Program Round 3 funds (HHAP-3) administered by the State of California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH), this action plan is an opportunity for us to engage with the community around strategies and goals for ending homelessness in Sacramento. There will be a series of opportunities to participate at CoC committee and Board meetings, as well as community forums in the coming months. See an overview of HHAP-3 that was presented to the CoC Board in January.
Sacramento is coming together with Santa Cruz, Merced, Fresno, and San Bernardino to participate in a state-sponsored 100-Day Encampment Challenge, which will be focusing on serving persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness. As a part of this challenge, Sacramento has established a team of providers, staff, and outreach navigators to test out innovative ways to help persons experiencing homelessness. Our team has done an incredible job coming together, organizing, setting a work plan, and getting started.

In 100 days, our goal is to safely and stably house 43 individuals living in Sacramento encampments or identified shelters that currently have a voucher and connect 43 individuals living in encampments to a pathway to housing. We will seek to address the barriers that have historically created racial and other inequities in housing outcomes. Stay tuned for progress updates!
