In this session, Identifying Promising Strategies: Ideas for Online Dance for Students Ages 4-8, veteran teachers Andrew Jannetti, Sonya Monts, and Lynn Monson will discuss their experiences and ideas for connecting and teaching young students in an online environment, as well as address some of the challenges presented for Public Schools,Private Studios and Non-Profit Community Arts Organizations. The presenters will answer questions from participants.

Bios of Presenters
Andrew Jannetti, MA  is based in NYC and has a distinguished career as a choreographer, dancer, educator, fitness instructor, and producer. He works full time as a Pre-K thru Grade 5 Dance Educator for the NYC Department of Education, and part time at BAX as the Director of their school breaks programs, and as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers, New Brunswick and St. Francis College in Brooklyn. He has presented choreography at DTW, St. Marks’s Danspace, Gibney Arts, 92 nd  Street Y, Alvin Ailey Center, The Duke, DIA, Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), Cunningham, DUMBO Dance Festival, CoolNY Festival, ADG Festival, NY International Dance Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival, and other venues throughout the U.S. and Europe. He is Past-President of the New York State Dance Education Association and recently joined the Advisory Board of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO).

Sonya Monts has over 20 years experience in the private studio setting. She previously owned and directed her own private studio, The Dancer's Extension, and was the dance teaching artist for Polk County (NC) Schools. She currently teaches for Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre/New Studio of Dance in Asheville, NC. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College (SC), and in 2015 earned her Certificate in Dance Education from the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). For the NDEO, Sonya is a chapter sponsor for the National Honor Society of Dance Arts; adjudicated the Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award; served on the strategic planning committee; contributes to to online member forums; contributes and serves on the editorial board for the Dance Education in Practice journal; and has presented her work at the state and national levels. After thorough review of her teaching portfolio, Sonya became a Registered Dance Educator in 2014. In 2016, Sonya was named NDEO's Outstanding Dance Educator - Private Sector.

Lynn Monson  completed Hartford Ballet’s Teacher Training Program, and earned a BA in Dance at ASU. She taught dance to all ages for over 30 years and is a certified Labanotation teacher. She managed an arts-based charter school, and performs administrative duties for arts organizations. Lynn helped revise the Arizona Dance Standards, and worked on developing SLOs and state assessments for dance. Lynn is a member of the Dance Notation Bureau, International Council of Kinetography Laban, and National Dance Education Organization. She served as Secretary and President of AzDEO and is currently the Executive Assistant. Lynn also serves as the State Affiliate representative on the NDEO board and is a professor with NDEO's OPDI program teaching the following two courses: OPDI-107: Creative Dance in Early Childhood and OPDI-M6: Introduction to Creative Dance for Early Childhood.
