Sunday Worship Schedule

Our Sunday worship schedule:
     8:15 am - Holy Eucharist
9:30 am - Christian Formation for All Ages
   10:45 am - Holy Eucharist
     5:00 pm - Santa Eucaristia

Adult Christian Formation

Adult Christian Formation on December 8 and 15
St. Bede's has been and continues to be a wonderfully hospitable place, where people feel their belonging and know they can bring all they are into this space. In a two-week conversation on December 8 and 15, we will consider together how a shared, deeper understanding of gender and sexuality might expand our hospitality and enrich our experience of community.  Please join us -- your voice and your experience are an important strand in the St. Bede's tapestry! 9:30am in Room M-110

Christian Formation on December 22
Our community formation will be the Las Posados service at 4:00pm and decorating the Christmas tree in the Commons. There will be no morning children or adult formation on this day. Children who wish to be in the Pageant on Christmas Eve at the 4pm service are invited to rehearse at 9:30am, especially those who have speaking parts.

The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe -
Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00pm

A celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe will take place at St. Bede's on Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 pm. The bilingual celebration will feature festive music from the parish choir, mariachis, dancing, and a pageant depicting the story of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A festive reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Parishioners are invited to bring food such as snacks, appetizers, & desserts to contribute to the reception.

Christmas Flowers & Music Dedications

Please complete the form on the envelope found in your bulletin or at the Connect Center, and place in the offering plate or return it to the Parish Office with your check to St. Bede's Church. Specify Flowers or Music on your check. Donations must be received by Sunday, December 15 to be printed in the Christmas Eve booklet.

Baby Jesus Baskets

During the seasons of Advent & Christmas, we will be filling laundry baskets with items to help new mothers in need at Our House shelter.
Baskets will be in the Commons through Epiphany. Here is a list of their most-needed items: Baby Food, Formula, Baby Cereal, Baby Bottles, Pacifiers, Diapers, Diaper Rash Cream, Baby Wipes, Baby Shampoo/Soap, Crib Sheets, Baby Blankets. Our House helps children and families experiencing homelessness by providing the tools, support and education they need to thrive.

Children's Christmas Eve Art

St. Bede's has a tradition of illustrating our Christmas Eve bulletins with art created by the children in our community. Children may create their nativity themed art on the papers provided by the parish as part of their formation classes, during the services, or at home, but feel free to let them use any white paper, making sure to write the artist's name on the back. Place the art in the bin located in the Connect Center by December 15.

Christmas Pageant, December 24 at 4:00 pm - Please join in!

Children of all ages--including extended family and friends--are invited to participate in our annual telling of the beautiful ancient nativity story. No advance rehearsal required! Participants can come dressed as an animal, angel, shepherd, etc. We also have a whole collection of simple costume pieces available to borrow (please arrive around 3:30pm to choose costumes in room M110).

Participants will sit with their families during the pageant until prompted to join the manger scene. If you have questions, please email Alyssa Sali ( asali@stbedes.org )

**Please note that we will not offer a nursery at the 4:00pm service.  This will also allow our wonderful nursery staff to enjoy Christmas Eve with their families and our littlest children to participate in the family-friendly service.

The Gift of Your Help is Requested - Christmas Eve Reception!

We need treats and assistance with light clean-up for the reception following the 4 pm Christmas Eve service. Please bring your goodies with you on December 24. If you are willing to help clean up after the reception, please sign up on the sheet in the Commons or email Alyssa Sali. (asali@stbedes.org)

Las Posadas, Holy Eucharist, Tree Decorating, & Fiesta!

The whole parish is invited to join in any and all of the festivities! On December 22 at 4 pm, Las Posadas (the celebration of the arrival of the Holy Family in Bethlehem - looking for room in the Inn) will begin as the Liturgy of the Word in a simplified bi-lingual Eucharist. At the end of the liturgy we will process to the Commons singing "Go, Tell it on the Mountain" and decorate the Christmas Tree. After the tree is decorated, we will all join in a festive potluck supper including tamales, posole, & sweets in the Parish Hall. All are invited to bring a potluck soup, chili, or stew for the dinner. The evening culminates with the breaking of Piñatas at around 6:30pm. Invite friends, neighbors, and family to join us for the festive evening as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

Nominations for Vestry for 2020

It's the time of year when nominations for next year's Vestry are sought. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please let a committee member know by November 24. The nominating committee consist of the three off-going Vestry members (John Branan, Laura Martin, and Orisha Pasrons),  and two at large members who are being identified.

The Vestry has legal & fiscal responsibilities for St. Bede's and works in partnership with the Rector to discern what the parish is called to do and to have oversight of that work. We seek members who are intentional and reflective about what our church should be focused on at this time and who have the vision and energy to carry out this work. Members must be able to take into account the needs of all the people in our congregation. The individuals on the Vestry work together for form community, finding common ground, centered on the spiritual life of the individuals and of the vestry as a group, to lead and oversee the church's work.

If You Need a Name Tag ...

Please let the Parish Office know if you need a name tag. The procedure is simple. Just put a note on the Parish Administrator's desk in the office and by the next Sunday your new name tag will be on the "spinners".

ReviveATL: Love in Action
an Episcopal Church Revival
January 22, 2020 from 6-8 p.m.
Atlanta University Center

This past year, Presiding Bishop Curry has urged people of faith to follow The Way of Love, fostering a community of people who follow Jesus by forming loving, liberating and life-giving relationships with God, their neighbors, and the environment.

This Way of Love is reflected by the Diocese of Atlanta's purpose statement:
We challenge ourselves and the world to love like Jesus as we worship joyfully, serve compassionately, and grow spiritually.

What does Love in Action look like in a world that is hurting? ReviveATL invites us to live out our call to serve Jesus and love as he loves the unwelcome, the disenfranchised, the lost, and the found.

All are welcome. Come experience Love in Action.

Details: Prior to the Revival, food trucks will be available from 4:30-6 p.m. to allow for early arrivals. A more detailed program will be released this fall.
Early bird registration before Nov. 1 includes guaranteed seating. Registration will be opening soon.
