FROM PETER'S PEN
I am taking time at this week's vestry meeting to reflect on what has happened over the past 12 months at Ascension (what a year it's been!), what is happening now, and what will be happening shortly. Here is a recap:
1) I give thanks for the prayer that undergirds our parish. God's Spirit moves powerfully through the Church of the Ascension, and much of this happens because of prayer. Our Daughters of the King, our Benedictines, our clergy, and many of you pray daily for one another and for our community. Thank you for this wonderful, Spirit-filled work!
2) Stewardship: It is stewardship time at Ascension. More information will be coming out shortly. Please begin considering how God is blessing your life and how you may be called to support Ascension in 2021 with your time, talent, and treasure. In my own life, in spite of the pandemic, there is much for which I am grateful, beginning with my health and the health of my family. My giving (both to Ascension and to others) for 2021 is framed by the knowledge that I am blessed with good health, good healthcare, and a loving parish family.
3) Advent and Christmas at Ascension: we are working on worship plans. Covid has (obviously) changed how we worship for now, and these seasons will look a little different. We are going to do our best to celebrate Advent and Christmas in ways that are as "normal" as possible (i.e., in the church building) and also keep us as safe as possible. Please keep all of us planning worship in your prayers, as we do this work.
It is a joy to walk, work, and worship with you!
Blessings,
Peter+

On Thursday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. EST, join Presiding Bishop Curry and Dr. Catherine Meeks in a conversation regarding the work of the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing as we celebrate its third year of service to the Church. The conversation will explore the challenges facing us as we navigate the two pandemics, COVID-19 and racial unrest, with the intention of finding the best paths forward as we seek to demonstrate our love for one another through striving for peace and justice and respecting the dignity in everyone. Our Directory Project is ongoing, although progressing more slowly than originally planned. We will let you know just as soon as it is available!
Meanwhile, if you haven't yet heard: we are collecting contact information from the congregation in order to put together a shareable directory – see the PDF data collection form here. We will not include or share your contact info unless we have your signed permission on file. Sharing will be strictly limited to within the congregation, never for outside users, advertisers, etc. Our goal is to help folks stay in touch with each other, even during this time of ongoing pandemic lockdown. Participation is totally optional, but we hope you will want to be included! (In lieu of the form, you may send an email to info@ascensionfrankfort.org containing the requested information, and that email would serve as permission to share.)
We also encourage everyone to also submit a photo! A digital photo is preferred - send by email to the address above - or send a paper/print photo to the church address. And yes - you may still send a photo now, even if you have already submitted your information form.

Pre-Planning for End of Life
Rite I or Rite II? Eucharist or no? Burial service in the church, or only a graveside committal? Special music, songs, readings, people? Please consider writing your preferences on a “Funeral Information and Burial Instructions” form, for secure long-term storage in the parish office. This confidential information will serve as a guide to the church and your family after your death. A 'Kentucky Living Will Directive and Health Care Surrogate Designation' Form is also available. Return the completed form(s) to Deacon Rebecca, Deacon Sue, or to the parish office.
