A Message from the Associate Dean

As we begin to approach the conclusion of fall term, I would like to ask you to reflect on your personal and professional development as a faculty member. Please take a moment to complete our Drexel Engineering Faculty Development Series survey. Whether you have participated in any of our events or not, we are looking to you for suggestions for workshops and trainings that will enrich you and your colleagues.
Remember that you are a member of the CoE Faculty & Staff Teams site, which reduces your e-mails and provides important information on college alerts and news. There is also a separate “channel” for our TT and NTT faculty addressing issues specific to these groups, such as Faculty Senate updates. If you are unsure how to access the Teams site, please visit Drexel’s IT Teams support page.

Congratulations
Colehower Chair Professor and Associate Dean Kapil Danekar (ECE) is the recipient of funding for “Technical Textiles for Wearable Sensors: Process Design Kit” from the US Army via Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA). To further the development and application of textile-based sensors and electronics, the Pennsylvania Fabric Discovery Center (PA FDC) is working to develop a textile sensor Soft Systems Design Kit (SSDK), to provide a framework for the rapid design and iteration of these fabric-based systems. This will build on previous work funded by AFFOA Manufacturing Innovation Institute and aims to address a crucial unmet need whenever a functional fabric device is being scaled to high-volume production, especially when existing supply chains do not exist for the device.
