Notes of Joy - Week of January 3, 2021
Gospel: John 1:1-14
Within the gospel reading’s profound words lies the simple message that God is revealed in a human person. Though we may try to understand how the Word existed with God from the beginning of time, the wonder we celebrate at Christmas is that the Word continues to dwell among us. Christ comes among us in the gathered assembly, the scriptures, the waters of new birth, and the bread and the wine. Through these ordinary gifts we receive the fullness of God’s grace and truth.
Sunday, January 3 Worship
In-person and Online

Second Sunday of Christmas

We will be meeting for worship at 9:30am.

Our Sunday worship will be available LIVE on the Facebook app only beginning at 9:30am; the recorded service can be viewed on Facebook any time after 10:15am.

Note: A link to our mitigation rules is below. We are wearing masks, practicing 6ft distance in chairs, and keeping services short due to COVID-19. We are being very safe - if you’d like to worship with us, please try it out!

Note:  Churches are still being allowed half capacity at their gatherings, with 6 ft distance.  (They are in a different category than other gathering groups both due to freedom of worship but also the infrequency of our gatherings).
Our First Outdoor Christmas Eve Services
Over 60 people attended our outdoor worship and 40 people attended our indoor worship on Christmas Eve. Special thanks to:
  • Dave and Mona Mitton family who brought the Fire ring and wood
  • Laura Storrs and Roy Corral who led singing with guitar (not easy in the dark)
  • Many people who made luminaries (some froze theirs in their freezer since temps reached 37 degrees that week)
  • Everyone who set and cleaned up
TBA & Christmas Film
TBA Theater Donations have been completed now and reached a total of $680.  Thanks for your generosity. This check was sent in gratitude for all their professional help in putting this year's Christmas Pageant Movie together.

The children did an awesome job: Actors, Readers, Musicians and Artists! Thank you!
Food Pantry Donations Needed
This can be a very difficult time for families. Bring your food donations.

This Sunday, Jan. 3 is First Fruits Sunday. We give special thanks for the gift of food and bless our offerings before they are delivered to the Food Pantry this coming week by the Soellers family.
Adult and Youth Readers
This year as a way to include more ages, we will be aiming for 2 Readers per Sunday - one adult and one youth. Does your young person like to read? Consider signing up! Lately we have had some fantastic readers - young and old! The sign-up Worship Assistant Schedule is on the Opportunities bulletin board in the upper narthex.
Painted Windows Clean Up ï»¿Helpers needed to stay after worship Jan. 3rd. Help scrape off the paint on the windows painted by the Sunday School. Bring a "putty knife" if you have one please.
ADDITIONAL WORSHIP SERVICE RECORDERS NEEDED
We would like to increase our pool of people willing to record our Worship services LIVE. Please let us know if you are willing.
