Thank you MES Families

The 2020 - 2021 school year has been quite the challenge for everyone, but yet we persevered! Our students at MES made the best of every situation to make this year memorable. As this year at Marshall Elementary comes to a close, we want to thank our MES families for all the support throughout the year and for the many contributions to our school - even though most of them had to be virtual. Your volunteer work behind the scenes, donations, staff appreciation events, and time are merely a few of the ways you help Marshall continue to be successful. Our students, teachers, and PFA spent countless hours learning, planning, and preparing for educational experiences that have made this school year memorable for each and every child.

As we reflect, it’s important to note the many accomplishments of our MES children. Not only did they excel in academics, they learned new technology skills, critical thinking, respect for the space of others, flexibility, and what it means to be resilient. Our students should be commended for their tremendous progress. We are proud of our youngsters for how much they’ve grown academically, socially, and emotionally. They’ve created great memories with their friends, teachers and families.

As always, let’s be sure to wish our fifth graders the best of luck as they begin their transition to middle school and enter sixth grade. At MES, we are lucky to be right across the street from MMS and see our students from MES as they get older. We still get to see them growing up ,and they are growing up fast! The world has so much to offer your children, and we wish them well as they continue this journey.

As always, no message from us would be complete without thanking you, MES families, for sharing your beautiful children with us. We can think of no job more rewarding than being a part of the Marshall community and having the opportunity to be surrounded by happy, energetic and creative children.

We wish all of you a happy and safe summer break!

Thanks for the Field Day Fun!

THANK YOU to our fabulous MES teachers for pulling together to make this year's Field Day happen! Without visitors or volunteers allowed on campus this year, the logistics of Field Day were especially challenging, but the specials teachers are pitching in with the homeroom teachers to make sure our kiddos don't miss out this year. Special shout out to Mr. Crawford for planning all the fun games & activities!

SPECIAL THANKS to Candy Miller, who single-handedly purchased, organized, froze, and then delivered the icee pop treats for our 500+ students to enjoy! Field Day just wouldn't be as special without a frozen treat. Many of you know Candy as our unflappable Field Day organizer who puts much time and thought into coordinating the hundreds of volunteers, dozens of bags of ice, and many many water coolers in a typical year.

MES's Field Day just wouldn't happen without her - Thank You Candy!

Elementary Band/Orchestra Registration

Elementary students have the exciting opportunity to begin instruction on a band (rising 4th or 5th Grader) or orchestra (rising 3rd, 4th, or 5th Grader) instrument next school year. This is the first step of a student’s participation in one of Western Pennsylvania’s most award-winning music programs with a proud legacy of generations of students learning to make music.

You can find more information about Elementary Band & Orchestra as well as register your child for Band or Orchestra next school year at these links:

If your child will be a returning band/orchestra student, they DO NOT need to re-register for next school year.

Mental Health Awareness Month

More than one year into the pandemic, recognition, and practice of wellness is at the forefront for our students, families, staff, and community. As NA continues to meet the needs of our community, we are taking a careful look at mental health and wellness.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, select staff members have volunteered to share their expertise, experiences, and tips for normalizing discussions around mental health. Be on the lookout for weekly updates throughout May and help us educate, support, and fight the stigma for all. To access materials for Week 5, “Taking Care of Me," visit our Mental Health and Wellness website. Previous weekly materials continue to remain accessible to all.
